The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of Mukti Mission US (www.muktimission.us), is the public face of MMUS, and is responsible for advancing the organization's mission, strengthening donor and ministry partnerships, overseeing operations, and providing leadership for fundraising, communications, and organizational development. The Executive Director reports directly to the US Board of Directors and works collaboratively with donors, churches, volunteers, ministry partners, and Mukti Mission leadership in India.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Administration
· Provide leadership for the day-to-day operations of Mukti Mission US.
· Recruit, train, supervise, coordinate, and support paid staff.
· Responsible for staff culture, performance management, and leadership development.
· Create annual goals, plans, and priorities consistent with the mission and direction established by the Board. Responsible for strategic planning and execution with measurable goals.
· Ensure effective administrative systems, policies, and procedures.
Fundraising and Donor Development
· Develop and implement strategies to increase financial support for Mukti Mission.
· Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, churches, businesses, foundations, and ministry partners, with a focus on expanding the donor base and strengthening long-term giving. Also, responsible for spearheading fundraising campaigns.
· Encourage engagement through prayer, giving, advocacy, and volunteer service.
· Manage CRM database & integrate donation platform to website for funding campaigns.
Partnership and International Relations
· Serve as the primary liaison between Mukti Mission US and Mukti Mission in India, and facilitate communication and partnership while respecting the governance and leadership structures of Mukti Mission in India.
· Maintain current knowledge of ministry activities, projects, and priorities in India.
· Foster collaborative relationships with international councils and/or Executive Directors.
Volunteer and Mission Team Coordination
· Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers and local ambassadors serving Mukti Mission US.
· Facilitate short-term service opportunities and ministry-related travel to India, when appropriate, in partnership with Mukti India.
· Represent Mukti Mission US at international Council meetings (once every 3 years), along with at least one annual site visit, and any other key events as requested by the Board.
Communications, Events, and Ministry Promotion
· Oversee the development and distribution of publications, prayer updates, newsletters, electronic communications, annual donor giving statements, sponsorship letters, and promotional materials. Promote awareness of Mukti's ministry, impact, and needs.
· Ensure effective use of digital platforms, including website and social media channels.
· Represent Mukti Mission US through speaking engagements and tables at relevant meetings, conferences, etc. Also responsible for hosting the annual Muk-Tea event.
Board Relations and Governance
· Support the Board of Directors in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.
· Prepare materials and reports for Board meetings in consultation with the Executive Committee, and provide regular monthly updates regarding ministry activities, finances, and organizational performance to the board. Assist in the implementation of Board-approved initiatives.
· Regularly engage with the Board Executive Committee on key issues facing the ministry.
Financial Oversight and Compliance
· Oversee accurate financial records, budget development, cash-flow, internal controls, and risk management. Monitor ministry-sponsored projects and donor-designated funds.
· Ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
· Maintain compliance with applicable legal, financial, and accountability standards, including IRS, State & Federal 501(c)3 regulations and registrations, ECFA, and Candid requirements.
· Work with Board Treasurer and External Auditor on reporting and accountability.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Genuine commitment to evangelical Christianity, and the mission and vision of Mukti Mission U.S.
· 8-10 years of experience in nonprofit ministry leadership, cross-cultural ministry, nonprofit financial management, and fundraising.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated experience building relationships with donors, churches, volunteers, and community partners.
· Demonstrated technical proficiency with digital communication tools, CRM database management, website management, etc.
· Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including periodic travel to India.
· Bachelor's degree in relevant field required; master’s degree preferred.
All candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorships are offered.
This position is currently based in our New Jersey office, though we are open to a fully remote arrangement for the right candidate. Regardless of location, candidates should expect to travel domestically and internationally.
