WDA is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to cultivate, steward, and grow legacy and major gifts support. This role is ideal for someone who has a deep understanding of WDA, has been engaged with our ministry for a significant period, and is passionate about building lasting relationships with senior donors.
The primary focus of this position is to advance legacy giving, strengthen relationships with long-term high-value donors, and ensure smooth transitions of personal donor relationships from retiring or transitioning staff to the organization.
1. Legacy Giving
Identify, cultivate, and solicit planned giving opportunities, including wills, bequests, and other legacy gifts.
Collaborate with donors and advisors to structure giving opportunities that align with donor intentions and WDA’s mission.
2. Senior Donor Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with WDA’s senior donor base.
Deepen engagement through personalized communication, stewardship, and regular relationship-building activities.
3. Staff-to-Organization Donor Transitions
Support older or transitioning staff in transferring personal donor relationships to WDA in a thoughtful, relational manner.
Ensure continuity and strong stewardship of donor relationships during transitions.
4. Fundraising Strategy Support
Work with WDA leadership to develop strategies for engaging major donors and legacy supporters.
Provide insight and feedback on donor trends, opportunities, and communications.
Existing connection to WDA and familiarity with our ministry, mission, and donor base.
Proven experience in major gift fundraising and/or planned giving (legacy giving) is highly preferred.
Strong relationship-building, networking, and interpersonal skills.
High level of initiative.
Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity and collaborate well in a team.
Integrity, discretion, and respect for confidential donor information.
Passion for advancing WDA’s mission and a heart for long-term donor stewardship.
Part-time role (hours flexible, based on donor engagement activities and travel as needed)
Possibility of growing into a full-time role
