The Director of Development will lead and execute MarriageTeam’s fundraising strategy, building a strong and sustainable base of support to expand our mission of restoring marriages. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, overseeing donor engagement, systems, and fundraising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Development Strategy & Donor Engagement
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational growth goals.
- Set and track goals for revenue, donor growth, and retention.
- Oversee donor communications, ensuring they are clear, consistent, and connected to impact.
- Help cultivate a culture of generosity by connecting donors to the life-changing impact of restored marriages.
Systems, Reporting & Donor Experience
- Oversee and manage the donor database, ensuring accuracy and effective use.
- Develop reporting and tracking systems for campaigns, donor activity, and overall performance.
- Segment donor data to improve communication and fundraising effectiveness.
- Ensure donors receive timely, thoughtful, and consistent communication and follow-up
Fundraising Campaigns & Events
- Lead the planning, execution, and follow-up of fundraising campaigns and events.
- Coordinate staff and volunteers to ensure events are well-run and mission-aligned.
- Support seasonal fundraising efforts, including increased involvement during event periods.
- Evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Major Donor Support & Moves Management
- Support the Executive Director in identifying and preparing for major donor relationships.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a moves management system to track donor engagement.
- Provide research, coordination, and follow-up support for key donor interactions.
- Help strengthen the overall pipeline of engaged and growing donors.
Qualifications
Required
- Alignment with MarriageTeam’s Christian mission and a desire to see marriages restored through Christ.
- Growing faith in Christ and a lifestyle consistent with MarriageTeam’s ministry values.
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in nonprofit development with demonstrated growth in fundraising.
- Experience in donor communication, systems, and fundraising execution.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using donor databases/CRMs such as DonorSnap or similar.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant nonprofit fundraising experience may be considered in place of formal education.
Preferred
- Experience supporting major donor relationships and moves management systems.
- Experience planning and leading fundraising events.
- Familiarity with faith-based or ministry environments.
