ROLE SUMMARY

The NextGen Team Lead will guide students and their families toward a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ while providing strategic and operational oversight of the middle and high school ministries. This role combines leadership, discipleship, volunteer development, and relational ministry to ensure students are nurtured and equipped to grow in their faith.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and lead the student ministry discipleship process by making disciples of students who press on to maturity, rooted in the Word of God and empowered by the Spirit of God
  • Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the student ministry (middle and high school)
  • Collaborate with HillsideKids Team Lead and other ministry leaders to align with overall ministry strategy and to facilitate the mission and vision of making disciples across the body of Hillside
  • Participate in regular meetings and ongoing training as required by the Director of Family Ministries and Executive Pastor
  • Recruit, lead, and develop a healthy team of student ministry leaders and volunteers
  • Equip and empower volunteers to carry out the work of ministry with students effectively, including opportunities to lead and teach
  • Lead and contribute to the teaching ministry of NextGen, including studying and preparing to teach God’s Word and equipping others to do the same
  • Guide students and their families through weekly programming, relational investment, counseling, and discipleship
  • Plan and coordinate weekly gatherings and special events that create meaningful environments for student discipleship across the NextGen ministry
  • Partner with parents through consistent communication and relational connection to support the spiritual growth and development of their students
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with leaders and families to ensure alignment, awareness, and engagement across the ministry
  • Develop relationships with students and schools outside of Hillside Fellowship
  • Ensure all child protection, screening, and safety policies are administered at all times
  • Prepare and oversee the NextGen ministry budget, ensuring that resources are used wisely to advance the mission of making disciples. Regularly review progress, practice good stewardship, and seek guidance as needed to support ministry goals
  • This role may include additional responsibilities as needed to support the mission and team, consistent with the general scope and level of the position

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrates a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ and embodies the culture and values of Hillside Fellowship (Galatians 5:22–23)
  • Must be a member of Hillside Fellowship or willing to pursue membership within six months of hire
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of Hillside
  • Experience in student ministry is required; 3 years of leadership experience in a student ministry setting is preferred
  • College degree or equivalent ministry training is required
  • Proven experience building and developing healthy teams
  • Strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and a servant-leader’s heart
  • Ability to pass a background check is required

SCHEDULE: Sun–Thur, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities

HOURS: Full-time

STATUS: Exempt
