Job Description

STATUS: Part-time with the possibility of full time.

MISSION STATEMENT: The goal of the Youth Minister (Middle and High School) is to build disciples for Christ. The Youth-Minister is responsible for helping to develop a love for Christ in our youth, discipling them to obey God’s Word, instilling in them a passion to serve the community, and building meaningful and godly relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have a biblical education (Bible College, Youth Ministry) and have a minimum of

    two years’ experience in youth ministry.

2. Must have a deep and genuine passion for teens.

3. Must have a sound knowledge of Scripture and an ability to teach effectively.

4. Must be a stable, mature, and growing Christian with an exemplary personal, marital,

    and family life (if applicable).

5. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

6. Must model a Christ-like lifestyle.

7. Must demonstrate a calling to youth ministry, love young people, and have a passion

   for evangelism and outreach.

8. Must be a self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting a vision for ministry,

    possessing relational skills with youth, parents, and staff.

9. Must possess strong communication skills and a desire to be active in community

    outreach. This position requires excellent leadership, administrative, and organizational

    skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead a weekly youth group meeting with the youth of Centerpoint.

2. Disciple Centerpoint’s youth so that they have a personal relationship with Christ.

2. Develop and implement outreach and discipleship programs and activities related to youth

    ministry.

3. Provide vision and leadership for middle school and senior high youth ministries

    consistent with the ministry of Centerpoint.

4. Challenge our youth who are already Christians to grow in their walk with the Lord and

    their understanding of Scripture.

5. Equip our youth to respond Biblically to current cultural issues.

6. Encourage strong, positive relationships between youth and their parents.

7. Research, plan, and evaluate curriculums for our youth programs. Stay abreast of new

    resources and changes in youth ministry and youth culture and adjust our programming as

    needed to maintain an effective program.

8. Cultivate and build relationships with Centerpoint’s youth.

9. Maintain consistent communication with parents and students, using email, text lists,

    social media, and church communication tools.

10. Develop and maintain a healthy, appropriate online presence for youth ministry updates

      and encouragement.

11. Be available to encourage, challenge, and counsel our youth.

12. Identify, recruit, and equip volunteers to help with our youth in order to build a team of

      passionate adult youth coaches.

13. Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life.

14. Participate in Sunday worship services, church events, and the overall life of the

      congregation at Centerpoint.

15. Maintain and uphold all church mission and policy statements.

16. Manage the youth ministry budget with integrity, planning events and purchases

      responsibly.

17. Maintain attendance, permission forms, medical releases, and updated youth contact

      information.

18. Ensure that the Child Protection Policy is observed in all youth ministry settings.

 

POSSIBLE SUGGESTIONS FOR COMMUNITY & OUTREACH ACTIVITIES:

  *Christian speakers and attendance of conferences.

  *Skating parties, or athletic events, YMCA

  *Service projects with neighbors, and Centerpoint people, etc.

  *Encourage the youth to volunteer with Helping Hands, CCBC Day, etc.

  *Christian concerts

SUPERVISION:

The Youth Minister will report to the pastors of Centerpoint for spiritual and ministry guidance and shall be accountable and supervised by them. They will also provide an annual evaluation of the Youth Pastor’s performance.
