PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Children's Ministry Director is to provide effective leadership and oversight for all ministries for children, infants through fifth grade, by providing the vision, motivation, and direction for the volunteer staff that will accomplish these ministries. The ultimate purpose of this ministry is to develop children into totally devoted disciples of Christ who love the Lord with their entire being, who are growing in the likeness of Jesus, and who rely on the Holy Spirit to help them live a life that is pleasing to God.
ACCOUNT ABILITIES:
A. Responsible for the planning, promotion, scheduling, recruitment, training, and evaluation for Sunday morning children's Family School programs, which include the
following:
1. Nurseries (birth through 2-year-olds)
2. Children's Classes (3-year-olds through grade 5)
B. General responsibilities include the following:
1. Contact all visitors who ask for information about Children's Ministries.
2. Telephone visitors as assigned by the lead pastor.
3. Providing leadership and vision for all children’s programs.
4. Partnering with parents to encourage and support faith formation at home.
5. Overseeing ministry communication, safety policies, and budget management.
6. Collaborating with pastors and other ministry teams to ensure children are connected
to the wider life of the church.
C. Responsible for the planning, promotion, scheduling, recruitment, training, and
evaluation of all other Children's Ministries programs, which include the following:
1. Vacation Bible School in the summer
2. Easter Egg Hunt (Saturday before Easter)
3. Special Programs for children during church events (mission conference, Easter Sunday service, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
B. Agreement with the beliefs and mission of The Crossing
C. Experience in children’s ministry or Christian education preferred
D. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
E. A heart for serving families and guiding children in faith
