Youth Pastor Job Description and Qualifications
Principal Function: Coordinating and promoting church programs and encouraging the spiritual growth of students (grades 6-12).
Working Relationships: Reports to the Pastor and Personnel Committee.
Job Classification: This position is an exempt (salaried w/parsonage) and full time position. The position may
also be adjusted for college/seminary students.
Salary: $38,500 plus 3 bedroom 2 bath parsonage.
Responsibilities:
· Organize and coordinate a balanced approach to student ministry that includes Bible study, discipleship training, outreach, recreation, fellowship, mission action, and music.
· Be present on a regular basis at school events. (sports, music, FFA, FCA, etc.)
· Work with the Youth Ministry Team to plan, implement and evaluate a balanced student ministry program.
· Provide Christian guidance and pastoral care to meet the special needs of young people and their parents.
· Keep up-to-date on the latest educational methods and share them with the workers.
· Prepare and administer the youth ministry budget.
· On occasion be available nights and weekends for youth ministry events as well as to work with the pastor in making emergency pastoral care visits as needed.
· Visit prospects and members related to student ministry.
· Comply with all established church policies, doctrines and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Attend quarterly/as needed deacon meetings
Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
The position of Student Minister requires:
· Must have biblical training
· Some experience in a youth church staff or other youth-related position.
· Requires exceptional speaking skills and the ability to speak confidently before groups.
· Requires quality leadership and administrative skills.
· Requires basic ability to use computer software
· Requires commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
· Requires passing criminal and sexual misconduct background checks.
