The Power House is a local non-profit youth center that was founded in 1995, with a vision to help local kids and teens in need. The main focus has always been on sharing The Power House’s core values since 1995. These core values are based on expressing positive family values, teaching about a healthy life style, and showing the love of Christ. Thousands of kids from this community have benefited from the services provided at The Power House over the years.
Power House believes that in order to effectively reach youth today, authenticity is required. Our staff and volunteers work to build relationships between students, volunteers, and the community. Power House has created a warm environment that welcomes and engages youth, promoting positive behavior. As we earn their trust, our staff is able to connect them to other Power House programs and community resources.
Power House eagerly welcomes 7th through 12th grade students from many backgrounds and life experiences. Young people and their parents enjoy Power House because we offer a safe environment where they are free to spend time with their friends.
Power House is stepping into this abyss of loneliness by offering programs focused around five core values:
· Showing the love of Christ.
· Expressing family values.
· Teaching healthy lifestyles.
· Promoting abstinence and STD awareness.
· Providing alcohol, tobacco and drug awareness and prevention.
These principles are important because research indicates that these ideals help young people develop into healthy, caring and responsible adults. In addition, our staff provides clear boundaries and standards of conduct for youth participating in our programs. Given these boundaries and expectations, participants learn self-discipline and accountability.
