ECHO His Love, a 501c3 nonprofit ministry that began as Love For Children in 1992, as an extension of the local church to support needs of families with young children in Manistee County. Our mission expanded in late 2005 to meet needs of all low income residents and we changed our name to Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) of Manistee County. Maturing in capacity to meet changing needs is a core organizational value, and so in 2006 we grew to serve Benzie County. Most recently, in 2018 we disaffiliated from the Love INC National to keep our local resources local, becoming ECHO His Love. A new name with the same love. Representing that we are Everyday Christians Helping Others (ECHO).
The mission of ECHO His Love is to mobilize area churches and transform lives by meeting physical and spiritual needs with the love of Jesus. We bring church and community together across denominational lines, working to meet complex issues of poverty. Our vision is to strengthen our community one person, one family at a time with love, hope and dignity.
On average, we annually serve the needs of 1200-1500 at risk residents by mobilizing the local church and community to meet basic human needs. In addition to basic needs, we teach life skills and financial education, provide the only winter homeless shelter in Manistee or Benzie counties and operate two resale stores. We strive to meet needs, strengthen individuals and community capacity through respectful relationships and community partnerships.
