The Director of Supply Chain Management (SCM) is responsible for overall supply chain operations, including production planning and scheduling, purchasing, inventory, vendor management and distribution of finished goods, to meet the defined cost, profits, customer satisfaction, and quality goals and objectives. This employee has the exciting opportunity to build and implement processes as Awana transitions from in-house fulfillment to third-party fulfillment. Job Responsibilities Monitor and improve the procurement function by determining work procedures, expediting workflow, and collaborating across the organization. Review and approve all inventory purchases. Chair the Procurement Committee and Pricing Committee. Scrutinize the performance of and billing from the third-party fulfillment service provider on a monthly basis. Synthesize volume and costing data to proactively suggest changes to the business model to positively impact Awana and its partners. Manage and coordinate all activities related to product requirements, purchasing, shipping, receiving and scheduling functions. Analyze trends and future projections of sales and inventory. Plan for anticipated capacity. Review production schedules to ensure optimization and on-time customer delivery. Recommend product pricing, strategic purchases and opportunities to senior leadership. Negotiate with suppliers ensuring cost and profitability objectives are met. Act as liaison with technology team to ensure any necessary interfaces and reporting requirements. Partner closely with the Solutions and Relationship teams to understand and appreciate needs and goals. Propose and implement an inventory management protocol. Develop strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff members supervised; give on-going feedback and initiate and implement plans to train, develop, encourage and assist workers to achieve work goals. Consistently and regularly communicate organizational and departmental information to employees supervised; promote and model open, cooperative communication and adequate information flow between all employees. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; business concentration preferred 5+ years of experience in operations management, data analytics or financial analysis Key Competencies Expert planning and analysis skills including the ability to create formulas and calculate ratios to analyze distribution and procurement data. Proven negotiation skills – leading to positive outcomes. Knowledgeable of and able to implement best practices in supply chain management and inventory management. Good communication, organization and time management skills. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to meet deadlines. Proficient with various computer systems. Ability to respond to complex inquiries from senior executives, customers, donors, regulatory agencies and other constituents using multiple methodologies, this includes writing reports and business correspondence. Able to think, plan and implement strategically in situations where only limited standardization exists. Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and practices is desirable. Must be in fellowship with the body of Christ through active commitment to local church. Physical Demands/Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
