JAARS Fellows is an 11-month, merit-based, professional opportunity that provides entry into a first career position, cultivates emerging leaders, and unleashes the world of missions. Fellows join JAARS staff in key positions to make Bible translation and life transformation possible. Develop Spiritually, Professionally, and Personally Receive input from a professional in your field and a spiritual and personal coach. Attend the Intercultural Communications Course . Learn how to further your interpersonal skills, understand differing worldviews, and deepen your relationship with God. Dive into Perspectives and explore God’s global purpose. Enjoy life skills training: everything from learning to drive a manual car to budgeting. Discover Waxhaw, Charlotte, and the surrounding areas with your JAARS Fellows community. The Third Culture Kid Care and Education (TC&E) Fellow will work closely with the Director of TC&E and the departments that report to her (Youth, MK Station, Summer Safari, and Refuge 139). Third culture kids are children raised in a culture other than the culture of the nation named on their passport for a significant part of their early development years. This fellow will have opportunities to work with TCKs and youth of all ages and learn how best to care and minister to them. Job Responsibilities Work with the Youth department to minister to and care for students involved in the JAARS youth ministry Work with the MK Station (on-campus childcare center for preschool-age children) to understand its purpose and how best to uniquely care for these children Participate in the Summer Safari program (summer long care for elementary-age children) to help serve and design activities and lessons Help Refuge 139 (a ministry to overseas missions branches to hold VBS-style programs for TCKs) share this missions opportunity to churches and individuals Job Requirements A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth Embraces the vision, mission, and core values of JAARS Excellent organization and communication skills A love for children and youth Flexible, energetic, and team-oriented individual Willingness to learn and grow in an entry-level position Highly dependable in fulfilling obligations without supervision Maintain self-control, and avoid aggressive behavior in difficult situations Ready to work indoors and outdoors Able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds Able to stand/sit for extended periods of time Adequate listening skills and ability to hear child’s concerns in order to ensure safety Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Other job-related duties as assigned by your manager Fellows Program Requirements Value global ministry At least 18 years old Learner attitude Collaborative Preferred Majors include Education, Youth Ministry, Children and Family Ministries, and Intercultural Studies Please review the further information about JAARS Fellows on the website which will be linked after you click "External Application".
