POSITION: Principal for K4 - 12
LOCATION: Bangor Christian Schools
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor and Board of Deacons
WORK YEAR: July 1st to June 30th
COMPENSATION: Negotiable
JOB GOAL: To use leadership, supervision, and administrative skills in managing the Bangor Christian Schools Mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in or related to educational leadership.
Successful experience in educational leadership, school administration, and/or supervision preferred.
Successful teaching experience
Must be a practicing Christian
Must be a member of (or willing to become a member of) Crosspoint Church
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Visual acuity to include color, depth perception & field of vision with/without correction.
Sufficient auditory function to hear phones, pager, instrument and/or system alarms.
Ability to communicate verbally with others – including phone equipment.
Manual dexterity in the operation of a computer.
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to complete repetitive motions – including bending, stooping, reaching, & walking.
Moderate lifting – up to 50 pounds occasionally, with regular lifting of 10-20 pounds.
Local and minimal long-distance travel is required.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for leading Bangor Christian Schools on the path of maintaining a biblical worldview.
Ensures that Bangor Christian Schools policies, regulations, and procedures as well as state and federal
statutes are followed.
Adheres to the Bangor Christian Schools Faculty Handbook and annual employment contract.
Maintains current and thorough knowledge of state and national education initiatives and consults with the
Advisory Board and faculty regarding their impact on the leadership of the school.
Participates in the selection, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of all school personnel, including
substitutes and volunteers.
Leads and ensures the development, appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
Organizes and administers the public relations program for the school in consultation with the Advisory Board and faculty.
Supervises the daily use of school facilities for academic and non-academic purposes.
Provides for adequate inventories of property under his/her jurisdiction and for the security and accountability of that property.
Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments.
Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school finances including all expenditures in conjunction with the CFO.
Supervises and maintains required records and all reports required by local, state, and federal agencies.
Establishes guides for proper student conduct and maintains student discipline.
Establishes professional relationships with faculty, parents, and community contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the school.
Assumes responsibility and ensures proper supervision of activities and programs that are outgrowths of the school's curriculum.
Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence, memos, and news releases in consultation with the Advisory Board.
Serves as an ex-officio member of all committees and councils within Bangor Christian Schools.
Supervises the various local funds generated by student activities in conjunction with the CFO.
Informs and consults with the Advisory Board on unusual events and activities as well as routine matters related to the supervisor's accountability.
Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the Principal.
Assumes primary responsibility for the development of a safe and respectful school climate and an environment conducive to learning.
Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development and the professional development of the staff.
Supervises and evaluates Assistant Principal and the Athletic Director annually.
Supervises the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development.
Develop and implement processes to assess program effectiveness.
Works professionally and cooperatively with other Christian school principals for the betterment of Bangor Christian Schools.
Supervises the attainment and maintenance of school accreditation with NEASC.
