Job Description

WHO WE ARE:

The Potter's Hands Foundation is a faith-based, non-profit 501c3 organization committed to serving survivors of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking as they work through the process of restoration and healing.

We provide a safe, secure environment in a residential setting in which female victims of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation receive physical, emotional and spiritual healing while learning the skills necessary for self-reliance and reintegration to society. We assist these individuals in building a support network of healthy relationships with family, friends and community.  Our overall goal is to support women through the restoration process enabling them to become healthy and productive members of their communities.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Marketing and Development is responsible for ensuring an integrated, effective and successful fundraising program.  The Director will provide oversight of all data management and reporting and will manage prospect research, gift processing, constituent records, gift reporting, gift agreement documentation, workplace giving applications and matching gift completion.  This team member will oversee the planning, organizing and directing of all The Potter’s Hands Foundation fundraising including the major gifts program, annual fund, social enterprises, planned giving, special events, grant writing and capital campaigns.  The Director works closely with The Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.

·       Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and volunteers

·       Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships

·       Demonstrate excellence in organizational, managerial and communication skills

·       Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability

·       Comfortable working with people who have a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences

·       Knowledge of social media platforms in regards to marketing and fundraising

·       Dynamic and effective public speaker

·       Demonstrate excellence and effectiveness in written communication

·       Bachelor’s degree

·       5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising

 

ACTUAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.       Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.

2.       Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.

3.       Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing and reporting requirements.

4.       Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.

5.       Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.

6.       Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.

7.       Recruit special event leaders and oversee special event fund raising.

8.       Create marketing and fundraising plan based on strategic priorities.

9.       Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about The Potter’s Hands Foundation with the community.

10.   Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.

11.   Implement and oversee development team to support all development work

12.   Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising volunteer staff to include Heavenly Treats Business Manager.

13.   Assist in the planning and development of a second social enterprise for Phase 2.

14.   Oversee creation of publications and social media platforms to support fund raising activities.

15.   Maintain gift recognition programs.

16.   Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

17.   Work with and support executive director to develop and implement strategies around communications, marketing, membership, website and database.

18.   Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

19.   Perform other related duties as requested.
