Job Description

Stull Community of Faith is seeking a dynamic Pastor to help grow our vision, reach and expand the mission of our church.  We are a vibrant non-denominational laity driven church that believes in embracing all God’s children.  God’s heart is for all people and all people matter to God, so he sent the church to bring people into His kingdom.  Everybody’s welcome, nobody’s perfect, and through Jesus all things are possible.  Our church is conveniently located between the cities of Topeka and Lawrence in N.E. Kansas.   We provide a variety of community services such as a food pantry, clothes closet, community meals, rural mobile Harvesters, back-snacks, blankets of blessings and community care packages. 

We are looking for a person with a church growth mindset that enjoys engaging in the community and seeks to develop relationships with people both inside and outside the church.  The person in this role needs to enjoy working on a team and sees themselves as a key leader in the church and a significant support for the congregant’s mission and vision for the church.  


Pastor Job Description

The pastor of Stull Community of Faith (SCOF) is responsible to the congregation to oversee the life and direction of the church.  The pastor will provide spiritual leadership to the parishioners and the community.  The pastor will attract and retain active congregants, pastoral care, and involvement for our church.



·  Education or experience in a theological setting, whether formal or non-traditional

·  Demonstrated spiritual and personal leadership

·  Accomplished verbal and written communication skills

·  Reliable transportation to perform the duties of the position


· At least three (3) years experience as a pastor, designated leadership role, counseling or related field

· Be an active presence in the community that is flexible, adaptable and approachable

Worship Leadership:

· Plan and deliver sermons that include elements of inspiration and challenge, application to everyday life and spiritual growth and nourishment through strong Biblical knowledge and references. The efficacy to be communicated from the Lay Leader and congregation.

· Plan services in order to appropriately observe Christian holidays and events.

· Collaborate with the worship team to plan services that appeal to a variety of people, are engaging, effective, inviting and educational.

Congregational care:

· Visit and intentionally build relationships with church family and community members through loving care and support.  This includes personal and family counseling, home and health care facility visits as well as calls and written communication, officiation of weddings, funerals, baptisms, baby dedications, etc. All in accordance with the spiritual beliefs of SCOF.

·   Post and keep regular office hours to the congregation and the community.

·  Communicate regularly with the congregation through, but not limited to, articles and announcements utilizing the church website, social media, bulletins, newsletter and worship services.


· Be in attendance as a visible presence to foster cooperation, advise, provide guidance and participate with Lay Leader and Ministry teams in order to support and ensure their growth to contribute to the overall mission and vision of the SCOF.

· Recruit and retain new congregants to worship services as well as Church activities and events.


· Attend and participate in Administrative Team meetings as well as Ministry meetings and activities.

· Prepare or assist in preparation and presentation of reports to the congregation.

· Attend and participate in appropriate continuing education and networking opportunities.

Personal Conduct:

· Be able to pass background check and clearance as needed at all times during employment

· Follow SCOF Belief Statements, policies and procedures.

· Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of the pastor
