We actively seek a PHP Software Developer to collaborate in a team environment to develop new and innovative transportation applications that are used by global aviation, maritime, and land transportation.

 

Position Responsibilities              

  • Develop and support mobile and server-based applications, used by global transportation staff in the support of Bible translation, language development and Scripture engagement
  • Contribute as a team member working in an agile development / DevOps environment
  • Work closely with product manager to evaluate and prioritize product enhancements
  • Work closely with application users to ensure an excellent user experience and to understand user needs

Position Requirements 

  • A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embrace the vision, mission and core values of JAARS
  • Degree in computer science, information technology or related degree or equivalent experience
  • Volunteer or Support, unpaid
  • Mid to senior level PHP experience required with extensive software development
  • Yii v2.0 experience or equivalent framework experience
  • Database/SQL proficiency required.
  • Able to analyze and integrate legacy codebase
  • JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS proficiency highly preferred

JAARS makes Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote places on earth. We do that by enabling locally appropriate and sustainable solutions in transportation, technology, media and training.

We need more staff to make that possible. Of those who work at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, N.C., 50% are volunteers either short or long term, full or part time, and of all ages and  backgrounds. Missionaries and a few paid personnel round out the staff.
