 Position: Curriculum & Instruction Coordinator (Elementary School)

 FLSA: Exempt

Work Week and Hours:

This is a full time position of 40 hours per week
Hours of work are Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm with possible occasional evening and/or weekend responsibilities, or as determined by the Principal.

Contract Term:  12 month term (year-round position)

Primary Responsibilities

District Responsibilities

  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students for academic performance.
  • Assist the Principals to coordinate K-12 scope and sequence alignment.
  • Work with K-12 Principals and teams to assure correlation between district curriculum and state/national standards.
  • Work with K-12 Principals and teams to develop and implement the school improvement process (data analysis, goal setting, action plans, etc).
  • Assist with the school accreditation process.
  • Make presentations to staff, students, parents, and community members as required.
  • Write curriculum-related articles for school publications.
  • Provide appropriate communication to the PCS Administrative team regarding curriculum issues.

 Elementary Program Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor the program of instruction for K-5 academic programs and oversee updates of the curriculum.
  • Gather and distribute research on current educational/curricular/instructional strategies.
  • Serve as a resource person in curriculum and instruction across subject areas.
  • Coordinate and supervise curriculum design committees.
  • Assist with reviewing, selecting, and purchasing textbooks, curriculum, and instructional materials.
  • Study and evaluate new instructional materials and techniques and arrange for piloting by teachers.
  • Assist teaching staff with implementing curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Develop and implement evaluation and follow-up for curriculum revisions and instructional materials adoptions.
  • Assist in evaluating academic programs, grading, and assessment, and their effect on student achievement.
  • Evaluate syllabi and lesson plans.
  • Observe classroom teachers and evaluate implementation of standards-based assessments.
  • Facilitate department and individual meetings with teachers to design and implement authentic assessment grounded in state and national standards.
  • Lead and coordinate staff development, providing staff development opportunities that promote the implementation of all required instructional programs and strategies.
  • Assist with coordinating instructional support and training of new teachers.
  • Monitor student academic performance and behavior and assist with appropriate interventions.
  • MAP Coordinator for K–5th.  Set up testing schedules and proctor tests as scheduled by the district.
  • Provide input for the Teaching and Learning budget.
  • Stay current in the field and continue to grow professionally through collaboration with colleagues and other professional growth experiences such as professional literature, seminars, workshops, and conventions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in education, preferably in curriculum and teaching
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a classroom teacher
  • Experience working in a Christian school
  • Current teaching license required
  • ACSI Teacher Certification (Temporary required within 30 days of employment
