Position Summary          

In collaboration with the Information Technology and Business Solution team, IT partners and internal stakeholders, this role will advance our Systems and Database technology platforms to world-class operational excellence. The Systems Tech Assistant will assist in installation, maintenance and support of systems and database applications. They will also assist with projects to enhance the systems and follow our change management process for all change requests.

Position Responsibilities              

  • Significantly and measurably improve internal end users’ operational excellence, performance and productivity through maximizing and optimizing the systems / database capabilities
  • Assist with improving the structure and usability of the database systems at JAARS
  • Assist in migrating these functions to newer software platforms where possible
  • Implement data testing and cleansing procedures to ensure data integrity input and outcomes with predictable reliability of systems performance and interface
  • Perform end user training with departments or staff on the effective and productive use of the new systems, policies and practices; may require documentation of process steps, instruction manuals, learning sessions, etc.
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements; troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on issues, problems and outages
  • Learns about the needs of JAARS and helps provide tools to improve our systems

We need more staff to make that possible. Of those who work at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, N.C., 50% are volunteers either short or long term, full or part time, and of all ages and  backgrounds. Missionaries and a few paid personnel round out the staff.
