Eastside Academy (www.eastsideacademy.org) is a non-profit, Christian alternative high school (grades 9 – 12) for highly at-risk youth. Located in Bellevue, WA.
Plan and implement instruction consistent with the school approved curriculum for assigned subject areas. Submit quarterly syllabi prior to the start of each quarter Promote an effective system of student responsibility and accountability Promote a classroom environment that respects the dignity of the student and is perceived by the students as equitable, consistent, and based on clear expectations Modify instruction to meet the needs of the students Employ a variety of methods and materials that will provide a holistic approach to students’ learning academically, spiritually, and emotionally Effectively manage classroom by implementing discipline, time management, and organization consistent with school policy English teaching position includes teaching a Senior Seminar class which provides the necessary support, skills and preparation for graduating students.
Be a professing Christian and a member of a church or Christian community Hold a Bachelor’s Degree (required) or a Master’s Degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university Be able to work and live in harmony with the core values and affirmations of the Eastside Academy Demonstrate experience and competence in the requirements for this position, particularly in having experience working with at-risk youth WA State Teacher Certification preferred
Eight days sick leave Minimum of five weeks summer vacation Regular school holidays/breaks Insurance, medical and dental
COVID-19 considerations: As a small school, we are able to respond well to social-distancing requirements and preventative measures. This position will be teaching in-person. We are following all the requirements as set out by the CDC and WA State.
