While reporting to the Vice President of Global Initiatives (GI), the Global Initiatives Administrator has a variety of responsibilities critical in providing support for proper functioning of the GI-Office with primary focus on the field projects processes and oversight. GI Administrator works closely with the GI Team (Regional Directors and GI Regional Representatives) as well as the JAARS Domain Representatives. The GI Administrator is educating the team on the GI processes, as well as ensuring that all Project and Fields Documentation are filed correctly and kept up to date. The GI Administrator will also fill the duties of the administrative assistant to the VP-GI at the JAARS corporate office.
Learn, apply and optimize the GI Projects process and related systems (Google Workspace Apps), as well as other possible future system tools
Learn, apply and optimize JAARS products/services for each domain and how JAARS engages with the network of international partners in the Bible Translation Movement and beyond
Learn how translation and Scripture-use programs operate in the field
Develop professionally by learning the ministry world, related business aspects and new software, in order to successfully fill the duties of the VP-GI administrative assistant
Educate and train GI-Team and Domain Reps on how to follow and maintain the GI-Projects process and structure
Schedule/organize/facilitate meetings with partners, as well as regular department meetings; Manage the GI-Google Drive, Smartsheets, and all project and field documentation Generate new project numbers, directory structure and template data set, as needed
Ensure that the GI-Projects process is understood and followed; Assist VP-GI in further developing and implementing critical GI processes and in writing appropriate and related policies and documentations
Prepare internal and external Reports and Presentations as needed; Lead the processing of post-project implementation reviews/evaluations while ensuring the “lessons learned” will inform and lead to overall improvement of processes and desired project outcomes.

Minimum three years of experience, preferably in a senior administrator role, performing the duties outlined above or similar; College degree or equivalent in related disciplines
Cross-cultural skills and the sensitivity to apply them effectively in complex, cross-cultural situations
Structured, detail oriented, organized, able to flex and adapt to complex and evolving environments
Able to multi-task and track activity across complex projects (formal project management experience is a big plus)
Good writing and communication skills that may entail technical reporting and policy writing; Very comfortable with Google Workspace
A Team player, able and willing to mentor and develop new members on the team; Experience collaborating with other JAARS divisions, teams and individuals to achieve GI goals and objectives highly desirable.
There are nearly 600 million people in the world with little or no access to Scripture in the language they know best, their heart language.
JAARS makes Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote places on earth. We do that by enabling locally appropriate and sustainable solutions in transportation, technology, media and training.
We need more staff to make that possible. Of those who work at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, N.C., 50% are volunteers either short or long term, full or part time, and of all ages and backgrounds. Missionaries and a few paid personnel round out the staff.
