Job Description

Work Location  JAARS Waxhaw or Remote

FTE        0.500      20 hours per week

Position Summary         

The tagline of the JAARS daily radio program that airs on nearly 100 Christian radio stations daily is, “A new adventure every 60 seconds.” We are looking for someone to make that statement possible.

Position Responsibilities             

  • Research appropriate stories from the JAARS staff, community and/or field operations to produce content for the daily program.
  • Coordinate with Communications department to receive additional scripts that they will write for the broadcast.
  • Research and do needed edits for sharing past programs.
  • Schedule and hold interviews in the Communications building using Audacity computer program.
  • Store interviews and send them to the Speeding the Word editor for needed editing.
  • Send scripts monthly to recording hosts to record scripts.
  • Upload finished programs on Ambassador.
  • Prepare program summaries for our website.
  • Assist in program promotion to radio stations.

Position Requirements 

  • A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embrace the vision, mission and core values of JAARS
  • Experience with radio recording and Audacity computer program
  • Good speaking voice for radio
  • Ability to work within time requirements.
  • Ability to research/find stories of interest to listeners
  • Desire to use this medium to promote the ministry of JAARS

There are nearly 600 million people in the world with little or no access to Scripture in the language they know best, their heart language. 

JAARS makes Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote places on earth. We do that by enabling locally appropriate and sustainable solutions in transportation, technology, media and training.

We need more staff to make that possible. Of those who work at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, N.C., 50% are volunteers either short or long term, full or part time, and of all ages and  backgrounds. Missionaries and a few paid personnel round out the staff.
