Position Summary          

We are looking for someone who is passionate about history, museums and missions. Candidates should have excellent oral communication skills and enjoy working with people. They need to be able to learn and communicate the guided tour and mission of JAARS to visitors.

Flexible Hours

Position Responsibilities              

  • Work at the reception desk to answer the phone, keep visitor records, schedule tours, greet and orient visitors, turn on various technology used in exhibits and answer questions
  • Give guided tours of the museum
  • Help plan and work at JAARS DAY and other museum events
  • Sell items in the museum gift shop
  • Represent JAARS and the Museums at outreaches in the community, at schools and at churches
  • Attend museum meetings and trainings
  • Attend JAARS events and meetings when possible
  • Perform any other tasks that are needed

Position Requirements 

  • A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embrace the vision, mission and core values of JAARS
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
  • Strong interest in history, missions and museums
  • Able to communicate well in English both in written and oral form
  • Skilled in using a computer
  • Personable and enjoys people
  • Works well on a team and self-directly
  • Previous cross-cultural experience or knowledge of another language can be helpful but is not required

There are nearly 600 million people in the world with little or no access to Scripture in the language they know best, their heart language. 

JAARS makes Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote places on earth. We do that by enabling locally appropriate and sustainable solutions in transportation, technology, media and training.

We need more staff to make that possible. Of those who work at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, N.C., 50% are volunteers either short or long term, full or part time, and of all ages and  backgrounds. Missionaries and a few paid personnel round out the staff.
