Job Description



The Business Manager shall be a born-again Christian person who feels called of God to the ministry of the Christian school. Other qualifications may be added by the Headmaster as deemed appropriate.The Business Manager may function as Lead of Finance and Operations, with direct supervision of paid and volunteer accounting staff.  

General Responsibilities:

The Business Manager is responsible for the direction, coordination and supervision of the finance and business operations of Vail Christian Academy under the direct supervision of the Headmaster and includes responsibly maintaining all accounting procedures involved with the school. He/she is entrusted with the financial records, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and operation of all office staff. This includes the maintenance of confidential school records of students and finances in a manner consistent with administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of a private Christian educational system within the state of Colorado. Within these broad areas, and working within the educational and administrative structure of Vail Christian Academy, the Business Manager position will include the following responsibilities:

Minimum of Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience. Business Manager should have concentrations, research, training, and/or experience in:

  • Accounting (preferably school “fund accounting”)
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing

In addition the Business Manager shall: 

  • Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.
  • Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living.
  • Be a Christian role model (Luke 6:40) in attitude, speech and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God's Biblical standards for moral conduct.
  • Be a member in good standing at a local, evangelical church which has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the school's Statement of Faith.
  • Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ.
  • Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.
  • Have the spiritual maturity, life experience, and personal leadership qualities to "train up a child in the way he should "
  • Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children's education and be prepared to assist them in that
  • Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, kindness, self-control, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, perseverance, and punctuality.
  • Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy.
  • Use acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speak with clear articulation.
  • Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
  • Notify the Headmaster of any policy he/she is unable to support.
  • Refuse to use or circulate confidential information
  • Make an effort to appreciate and understand the uniqueness of the VCA
