Job Overview

Teacher shall prayerfully lead students toward developing the attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary for becoming mature, able and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God. Teacher shall be a committed Christian, college graduate, certified or certifiable, who feels called of God to the teaching profession. Teacher shall prayerfully promote, support and uphold the mission and vision of VCA. 

Classroom Responsibilities

  • Implement all policies, procedures and directives governing the operation of the school
  • Plan, organize and teach classes as prescribed by the scope and sequence as scheduled by the Head of School, planning broadly for quarterly and semester objectives through use of RenWeb and/or Lesson Plan Book
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
  • Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises and enforce rules & procedures
  • Prepare and maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom
  • Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program guided by the curriculum provided by VCA leadership and plan broadly through use of semester and quarterly plans and objectives through the use of RenWeb and/or Lesson Plan Book
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Create a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential
  • Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals by employing a variety of instrumental aids, methods and materials providing creative teaching and use varied teaching techniques to differentiate instruction based on individual student need
  • Plan the balanced classroom use of field trips, guest speakers, technology and other media and instruct and monitor students in the use of these learning experiences
  • Use homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment or project work
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, testes and assignments
  • Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade reports
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds
  • Communicate the assessment of student’s progress
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, staff and administration orally and in writing
  • Obtain information for parents when requested and promptly return phone calls and answer emails

 

Faculty Responsibilities

  • Learn and know the emergency procedures
  • Perform Lunch, recess and afterschool pick up duties on a regular basis
  • Prepare Staff Devotions per schedule administered by Administration/Head of School
  • Attend regular staff, department meetings and In-Service meetings/activities throughout the school year and in the summer
  • Encourage parent and community involvement
  • Execute all duties as described in the VCA Staff Handbook

  • Have Received Jesus Christ as his/her personal savior
  • Be in complete agreement with VCA’s Statement of Faith
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree
  • Maintain fellowship at a local church that maintains the same doctrinal beliefs as VCA
  • Maintain high standards of personal ethics
  • Maintain good standing in the community
  • Set a high professional and spiritual example
  • Exhibit strong personal organizational and time management skills
  • Pursue professional and personal development through continuing education programs, classes and seminars
