Discover your purpose! Come live on one of the beautiful Ranch campuses of the Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches. We are looking for full-time, live-in houseparents for our Christian residential child care programs. Married couples typically are hired as the primary houseparents in each house; couples and singles may work as relief workers. However, all of our houseparents live full-time at our locations where they are involved in the physical, spiritual, emotional and educational development of underprivileged/at-risk children ages 6-18.
We are looking for employees who have a good work ethic, can work well in a team setting, and can complete paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Most importantly we are looking for couples and singles who will provide these underprivileged children with a loving, Christian home.
Applicants must have at minimum a High School diploma and a valid driver's license is required. Experience working with children and/or a degree in a related field is a plus. The Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 1966 that provides long-term residential homes for abandoned, abused and neglected children. We currently operate multiple houses at three different locations throughout Alabama as well as an Administrative Office that serves as the central office for social services, fundraising and administrative functions.
We are a Christian organization that provides these needy boys and girls with loving homes and everything they need for a successful childhood including nutritious meals, clothing and shoes, medical, dental and educational support. We provide these homes for children referred by the Department of Human Resources as well as private placements at no cost to their families.
Our social workers create a specialized care plan for each child's distinct needs that include basic and independent living skills training, educational support and extracurricular and church activities. Our goal is to help each child have a well-rounded, safe childhood while learning the independent and workforce readiness skills necessary to become productive citizens as they enter adulthood.
The organization is governed by a statewide Board of Trustees comprised of business and community leaders as well as sheriffs. The operating budget is raised almost exclusively from corporate and private-sector donations as well as fundraising events.
