OPPORTUNITY  PROFILE

Senior Director of  Women & Children’s  Ministries

overview

Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission

Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission (the Mission) is seeking a  Senior Director of Women and Children’s Ministries to serve  the guests of the Mission, lead a gifted team of staff and  volunteers, and oversee all related programs and facilities.

From the time that it was established in 1932 to the present  day, the Mission has taken a leading position in breaking  the cycle of homelessness and addiction. This person will  continue to advance the vision and mission of Seattle’s  Union Gospel Mission, building upon the rich history and  ministry of the Mission.

The new Senior Director will have the opportunity to lead  and empower 30+ staff who are dedicated to lasting change  for women dealing with homelessness, unemployment,  addiction, domestic violence, and related issues. With  this team, the Senior Director will maximize and fulfill the  potential of Hope Place, a modern, 99-room residential  facility, and each of the ministry’s transitional living programs.  Underlying it all is the privilege and responsibility to model  Christ-like behavior and the deep desire for people to know  His love.

Are you ready to search, listen, walk alongside, and offer  hope? If so, we invite you to thoughtfully consider this unique  opportunity.

We offer hope.”

  • Passionate Urgency
  • Strategic Effectiveness
  • Courageous Belief

FROM THE PRESIDENT

I am honored and humbled to lead the Mission at  this crucial time. To serve with so many selfless,  loving people is truly amazing. Every day and night,  our staff reaches out to build personal relationships  with our homeless and addicted neighbors. They  learn their stories, pray, love, and care for them with  the hope of helping them back to a thriving life.

Our recovery programs’ success stems in part to  a compassionate and dedicated staff, but more so  because of the redeeming love of Christ. We want  everyone to know they are loved and cared for, by  us, and by God, no matter their circumstance.

ideal candidate

The next Senior Director of Women and Children’s Ministries at Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission (the Mission) is a mature  Christian who is an astute administrator with a high EQ and  strong cultural competency. Reporting directly to the Chief  Program Officer, you are a key member of the leadership  team.

As the new Senior Director, you’re the maximizer, developer,  and conductor of your team. As a collaborative leader, you’re  not just open to other ideas, but you seek them out. You  value feedback and engage in courageous conversations.  You offer grace because you’ve experienced it.

You’re experienced and comfortable with diverse and complex  cultures. You are easy-going: a mature relationship-builder  who maintains perspective and balance. You empower those  that work for you to be the best they can be; you delight in  their success and coach them in their failures.

There may be days when you don’t get to your email until the  sun has set and you’ve put out multiple “fires.” But when you  go home, you’ll know you made the necessary decisions,  and executed the strategy in a manner that honors those in  your care and points them to Jesus. Well done.
