Job Description


The primary work of the Director of Communications is engaging our congregation and community with the image, mission and news of Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC).  Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Designing and implementing a strategy for the most effective and efficient ways to communicate with our membership and with the community around us (website, social media, newsletter, email, etc.). This includes both print and electronic media.
  • Design and maintenance of the WPC website
  • Engaging the congregation and community through information and inspiration on social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter)
  • Promoting opportunities for WPC to be a visible witness in the community
  • Producing promotional material (posters, ads, etc.) for church ministries.



  • 20 hours/week - Some flexibility for working remotely



  • Within a range determined by experience and qualifications.


Personal Requirements – essential skills and behaviors required for success on-the-job:

  • Well-developed planning and organizing skills
  • Written communication skills, with the ability to write concisely, express ideas vividly and persuasively, and tailor messages to the audience. Strong spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and proofreading skills are also required.
  • Oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to articulate messages, listen with accurate empathy, adapt communication style to the individual/group being addressed, and build relationships.
  • Working knowledge of web design/development, graphic design and social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
