About the Position:
Grace International Language Institute is a China based educational institute that trains students in the linguistic, cultural, and social skills they need in order to succeed in western education systems.
GRACE first opened in response to the alarming suicide rates among Chinese teenagers caused by the intense pressure put on them by both the education system and their families to perform well. GRACE’s vision is to remove schoolchildren from the traditional Chinese education system and help them transition into Canadian high school and university. It is GRACE’s desire to provide our students with a loving environment in which to learn, explore and grow as healthy individuals.
GRACE currently operates out of a local municipality in China’s Shaanxi province. It is our desire to open a second branch in the province’s capitol of Xi’an. We are currently looking for two homeroom teachers to join our team of educators as we undertake this task of establishing a school in which we can prepare students for school in Canada, but also sow seeds that will prepare them to encounter Christ when they arrive.
Homeroom teachers are the primary instructors for the class they are assigned. They are the first people that students engage when they begin their day, and often the last ones they work with before they leave. Our homeroom teachers have a unique opportunity to both teach and mentor Chinese young people, modelling Christ-like behavior and training them to be young people of character.
GRACE will provide teachers with:
Assistance with visa paperwork and travel documents
International travel reimbursement upon completion of contract
Grace International Language Centre is an English language school that prepares Chinese students for school and life in western culture. Grace operates in China, and partners with a variety of organizations around the world to help Chinese high-school and university students succeed in their international post-secondary education.
Grace's heart is to provide our students with a warm, loving community in which to learn language and grow as individuals. The traditional Chinese school system has a rigid structure based on memorization, focused on grades, and discourages creativity and independence. School children often find themselves under crushing pressure from both teachers and parents to meet lofty academic standards, and are punished when they fail to do so. Grace seeks to remove children from this system and give them a place where they can learn by exploring and experiencing, rather than memorizing from behind a desk.
In short, our goal is to prepare our students to experience life in its fullness.
