Mountain and Sea Educational Adventures (MSA) is a Non-Profit Christian based Environmental Education organization founded in 1997. Our mission is to teach outdoor education in a manner which increases the awareness of the environment, raises the spirit of youth, and builds their confidence.  Our program site is located in between Avalon and Two Harbors at Whites Landing. We also have a 112' mini cruise ship aka "floating lab" that travels along the coast doing marine science programs.  We teach science concepts in the midst of God’s creation, fostering growth and building character.  Teachers and parents are calling MSA the most innovative and “student challenging” outdoor education camp in California! Position:  Camp Manager

We are looking to hire an amazing camp manager who can lead our marine biology team in professionalism and customer service.   There will be an advancement opportunity to the executive team for the right person after 180 days.  This person will live on site in our manager housing. 

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist Marine Biology Teaching and Curriculum development (Training Available)
  • Manage staff evaluations
  • Ensure all staff  represent MSA with professionalism and excellent customer service.
  • Oversee and manage the daily camp operations including the Program, Facilities, and Food service teams.  
  • Engage with customers to make sure their food, housing and program needs are met
  • Complete all Administrative duties
  • Administer staff discipline quickly, make written records and submit those to the VPO
  •  Serve as an on-site liaison between MSA operational staff and Customers. 
  • On call for all emergencies of all participants and staff at the camp program
  •  Fill in as a program instructor when needed.
  • Attend Chaperone Orientation - introduce yourself and let them know you are the person managing facilities and the kitchen.  They can come to you if they have issues.
  • Must be able to lead work projects when camp is not in session

Other Requirements

  • Display moral character, ability to exercise good judgment and willingness to work with flexibility as part of a team is essential. 
  • Ability to shine when serving children campers.
  • Live at Camp

Qualifications:

Marine Biology Education, Teaching, Science Degree 

Must have two years of Leadership / Management Experience

Minimum age 25 years old

Compensation:

The Beginning pay will $150 per day plus food and housing valued at $647 per month that is a Valued Salary of $3,897 per month 

After 180 days with an excellent review the candidate has the opportunity to become the Executive Program Manager.  The Salary will increase to $49,920 per year.

Benefits:

Health Insurance Available after 90 days

Vacation Policy : After 6 Months the following Paid Holidays (New Years Day, Presidents Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day) + 2 floating vacation days.

Paid Sick Days = 3 per year
