The Shelter Case Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our CityTeam Connect and Turning Point ministries in San Jose. The Shelter Case Manager will collaborate with other CityTeam program staff to coordinate appropriate services for the men in our programs. Under the direction of the Director of Men’s Programs and Operations Manager, the Shelter Case Manager will execute the strategic initiatives for our emergency shelter and transitional housing for men in crisis. Our ideal candidate will have a heart for the homeless, function well under pressure, and handle conflict and difficult situations with grace. Our ministry is often unpredictable and can be volatile, so we are looking for someone who can pivot quickly and deal with surprises and unexpected twists in a Christ-like manner.
The Shelter Case Manager position is a full-time, nonexempt position. Develop and supervise programming elements of men’s shelter services and Turning Point program.
Develop, implement, and maintain program policies and procedures for a sanitized and organized shelter environment.
Provide spiritual leadership for the community in the Connect and Turning Point Programs. Develop opportunities for the men in the shelter programs to discuss God and spirituality. Provide training and resources to support our volunteers, residents, and interns in this capacity.
Track and maintain accurate records regarding, resident roster, clients, volunteers, and occupancy of the shelter program.
Provide supervision and accountability for the men receiving emergency services, including general behavior, discipline, training, and referrals.
Operate within the budget established by the Executive Director. Obtain advance approval from the Operations Manager for any purchases beyond normal expenditures.
Oversee intake and structure of the Turning Point Program.
Collaborate with the Food Service Manager and CityTeam @ Work staff to coordinate appropriate services and transfer flow for all of the men in our programs.
Work with Support Services to ensure paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate and up to date record keeping and provide reports as necessary.
Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and intelligently delegate.
Maintain an environment that is conducive to building trust and unity as well as high motivation and achievement.
Represent CityTeam Ministries at community Homeless Coalition meetings and in other collaborative partnership efforts, including re-entry services and relevant homeless service organizations.
Advocate for CityTeam with those in your circles of influence.
Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2-years’ experience working with homeless population
Computer literate and proficiency with G-Suite
Professional written and spoken communication skills
Valid CA driver’s license with a clean record
Preferred Education and Experience
Familiarity with CityTeam, addiction, and homelessness
Experience working with, mentoring, or counseling in the field of addiction
Experience working in a non-profit environment
Some administrative experience
Previous internship or work experience at a transitional housing unit
Previous life experience or educational background with homelessness, THU, case management, etc.
Must be a male to supervise the dorm and showers of our shelter
Stand or sit for prolonged amounts of time
Walk, bend, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
Regularly walk up and down stairs
Talk and hear
Frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds

This job regularly operates in an emergency shelter environment
This position regularly walks to local homeless encampments and interacts with the homeless
This position will occasionally interact with residents and volunteers in a professional kitchen and be exposed to typical items such as a stove, knives, chemicals, slippery floors or surfaces, etc.
This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
This role will occasionally need to maneuver in tight quarters among donations, rolling racks, shelving, storage containers, stacked boxes, and a conveyor belt
Days and hours will vary, depending on ministry needs

Must have an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Must be active in a local Christian body of believers or at least pursuing community with other Christ-followers
