What We Do:

World Challenge, Inc. was founded by Reverend David Wilkerson in 1971 and served as a corporate umbrella for his worldwide crusades, ministers' conferences, book and tract publication, video production, street evangelism, literature distribution, church planting, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers and many charitable outreaches. Today, World Challenge Inc. shares the message of the gospel through mission outreaches and literature distribution. Sermons from David Wilkerson and his son Gary are shared monthly through the Pulpit Series newsletter to hundreds of thousands of people. The numerous mission outreaches of World Challenge to the poor include orphanages, overseas widows’ fund, emergency/disaster relief, healthcare/clinics, community development and feeding centers. 

 About the Position:

The Director of Development Programs, Middle East & North Africa (MENA) is responsible for the creation, administration and success of World Challenge's missions efforts in the Middle East and North Africa.  The Director must identify, develop, manage and empower team members and indigenous leaders through Christian example, strategic, long term planning and implementation of wholistic ministry programs resulting in integrated and sustainable impact.  Additionally, the Director is involved in the execution of internal administrative, financial, media and communication plans.

 What You'll Do:

Manage Field Coordinators:

  • Hire and oversee the training, duties, performance and wellbeing of Field Coordinators working directly in the area.
  • Mentor Field Coordinators.

Ministry Program Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the Global Director to ensure that WC's vision, mission and guiding principles are adhered to and strategic plans are executed.
  • Create and submit profiles, budgets and activities for all assigned locations.
  • Communicate with partners frequently via calls, e-communications and face to face visits to ensure continued mission alignment, accountability and best practices.
  • Visit partners annually, or more, for relationship building, training and accountability.
  • Collaborate with partners to write and implement memorandum of understandings, strategic plans, support agreements and budgets.
  • Fulfill speaking engagements (teaching, training, preaching, etc.), as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to program management procedures through training and accountability.
  • Ongoing coaching of partner directors and boards in areas such as leadership and program management.
  • Initiate collaboration between various oversees partners to initiate horizontal cross-pollination, training and advancement of best practices.
  • Develop and maintain database of all partner programs.


  • Under the direction of the Global Director, network with churches, denominations and NGO's.
  • Respond promptly to new requests for partnership.
  • Research compatibility of potential partners to World Challenge's vision through reports and onsite visits.
  • Develop initial, broad plans for potential partnerships including outlining strategies, budgets and timelines.
  • Collaborate with new partners to write and implement memorandum of understandings, strategic plans and budgets.
  • Engage experienced, existing regional partners in the training and development process.


  • Develop network of regional media and communications contributors.
  • Provide articles, statistical data and media to the World Challenge media team.
  • Write responses to social media and direct inquiries, as needed.
  • Collaborate through internal and external channels to develop best practices.
  • Participate in transformational ministry trainings and conferences, especially related to Community Health Evangelism (CHE).
  • Grow in knowledge of transformational ministry concepts and practices through networking, exposure and self-study.
  • Participate in the research, development and dissemination of best practices and new methodologies in the Christian development world.
  • Collaborate through internal and external channels to develop new training materials as requested by partners.
  • Oversee the translation of training materials, as needed.

What You'll Need to be Successful in this Role:

  • Bachelor's degree ministry or related field, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years field experience in a ministry or business leadership position.
  • Requires integrity, desire to maintain biblical standards and agreement with World Challenge's Statement of Faith.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to supervise and motivate team members and volunteers.
  • Exceptional communication skills; both oral and written
  • Ability to travel extensively to international ministry locations (international travel up to 35% of the year and up to 3 weeks at a time)
  • Commitment to acquire and / or increase knowledge, training and experience of wholistic ministry primarily with CHE.
  • Desire and physical ability to participate in international poverty contexts with a willingness to adjust to and apply sensitivity to diverse races, cultures and world views.
