As Staff Communications Director, you will oversee JAARS communications to our staff as well as to partner organization staff working on the JAARS campus. This includes development of the strategy and execution of all major internal communications efforts to ensure the JAARS team is effectively informed and engaged with JAARS’ vision, mission, core values, strategy, and goals.
The Staff Communications Director is a member of the Strategic Information and Integration Team and reports to the VP of Strategic Information and Integration.
This is a full-time position.
Develop and lead initiatives to ensure staff understand and engage with JAARS’ mission, vision, and core values
Guide and coach leaders and communicators with internal messaging across JAARS
Work closely with leaders to analyze campus-wide internal communication practices, identify best practices and develop and execute strategies that ensure effective communication across JAARS
Develop and manage strategies to keep JAARS staff aware of, supporting, and engaged with JAARS global impact
Establish metrics and gauge effectiveness of internal communication channels
Develop and provide ongoing leadership to communication channels (e.g., Trailhead, Waypoint)
Build and lead a staff communications team and ensure ongoing team development
Develop and manage staff communication team plans, goals, and budget in alignment with organizational level goals and plans
Bachelors degree in communications or a related field of study and a minimum of 5 years of experience working in communications
A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
There are nearly 600 million people in the world with little or no access to Scripture in the language they know best, their heart language. JAARS is here to do something about that.
JAARS makes Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote and difficult places on earth. We do that by enabling locally-appropriate and sustainable solutions in transportation, technology, media, and training.
We need more staff to make in possible. Of those who work at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, N.C., 50% are volunteers either short- or long-term, full- or part-time, and of all ages and training backgrounds. Missionaries and a few paid personnel round out the staff.
