Founded in 1985, New Covenant Christian School is an educational ministry of New Covenant Christian Church. Our Pre-K to 12 institution, with three locations in the Bronx, is a place where students of all backgrounds can learn, grow, and develop in a Christ-centered environment with a commitment to excellence.
We seek 1 qualified education professional to serve as lead teachers in our 3 K FOR ALL Pre-Kindergarten Program, funded by the NYC Department of Education, for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. The following is general description of the duties, subject to finalization upon hire.
Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the principal.
Plan broadly through the use of semester and quarterly plans and objectives, and more currently through the use of a Lesson Plan Book.
Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: mental, physical, social, and emotional.
Plan through approved channels the balanced use of field trips, guest speakers, and other media.
Use homework assignments effectively for drill, review, and enrichment.
Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a good teaching environment.
Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student's progress.
Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and gives sufficient notice of failure.
Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the administration.
Compensation: $44,000 to $60,000, commensurate with education and experience.

Must be fluent in English AND Spanish
Must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or a related field. Masters Degree a plus. Degree(s)in early childhood education preferred.
Must possess or be on track to earn a NYS Teacher Certification (Birth to Grade 2; N - Grade 6; or Pre-K-Grade 6 certification).
Must have at least 2 years of lead teacher experience in a classroom.
