Athletic Director/Assistant Principal/Teacher

Job Description

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification/licensure. Other qualifications include school administration experience as well as experience working with athletic programs in an educational environment, a Christian worldview, and strong collaboration skills.  In addition, this candidate will be flexible, a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and have a passion for teaching children.

Athletic Director (25%)

Primary Purpose:

The athletic director shall be the leader of our school’s athletic offerings. This position’s primary purpose is to work directly with coaches, administration, staff, students and community members in coordinating all athletic activities. The Director is also responsible for the organization, development, and evaluation of the athletic programs ensuring they align with and support our school’s mission.

Reports to: Director of Academics and Instruction

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Interact with students and athletic staff encouraging each individual to perform at their highest level.
  • Plan strategically to increase participation and involvement in athletic offerings.
  • Develop, supervise, and manage the maintenance of accurate student athletic records in accordance with W.I.A.A. regulations and school policies.

Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities:

  • Promote, plan, supervise and evaluate a program of student athletics and co-curricular activities.
  • Enforce Student Handbook, Athletic Policy, and Code of Conduct.
  • Prepare, oversee, and organize schedules, facility use and practice times.
  • Prepare for, organize and oversee home contests, including event set-up and readiness, employment of game officials, meet manager, timers, scorers, crowd control and other personnel needed.
  • Assure supervision of home events when unable to be in attendance.
  • Assume primary responsibility for procurement, care, maintenance, and inventory of athletic equipment and supplies, including overseeing staff issuance of equipment and uniforms.
  • Prepare and administer athletic budget and coordinate gate / admission collection at home events.
  • Plan and coordinate code of conduct meetings, pep rallies, award programs, and recognition programs including annual extra / co-curricular assemblies. 

Human Resource Management:

  • Recruit and make recommendations to the principal and Board of Trustees for the employment of high school coaches.
  • Conduct annual formal evaluations of coaches at all HS levels during their first three years coaching at SCS and every 4 years thereafter.
  • Submit necessary payment information for coaches to business office by the final week of each activities regular season.
  • Maintain positive staff relations and communications with coaches and between programs.
  • Coordinate athletic training services for the school.
  • Represent the district at all necessary conference and W.I.A.A. meetings.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate oversight of our school logo/brand for school store in relation to athletic apparel orders.
  • Perform any and all other duties prescribed by the principal.

 

Assistant Principal (50%)

Primary Purpose:

The Assistant Principal (AP) shall assist the Director of Academics and Instruction in the leadership of the school.  The AP will provide visionary leadership that seeks to develop students educationally and spiritually through a Christian worldview.  The AP Is responsible for day-to-day safety and welfare of all students, staff and activities. The AP will ensure a safe, pleasant and effective educational environment, provide behavior support, and enforces all school district policies.  This position’s primary purpose is to work with the Director of Academics and Instruction, teachers, parents, students, and community members to further the mission of the school.

Reports to:  Director of Academics and Instruction

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Recognizes Scripture as the revealed Word of God and ensures it is taught as divine truth, integrated into the learning experience.
  2. Serves as the spiritual leader for integration of Biblical truth, teaching, modeling and discipline throughout the school and in the classroom including oversight of chapels.
  3. Promotes a learning experience which is marked with excellence and enables students to reach their unique potential in Christ.
  4. Keeps the school abreast of major current trends in education in general in Christian Education, in particular
  5. Implements behavior strategies that promote an effective learning environment.
  6. Ensures the safety of students through procedures and practices.
  7. Coordinates and oversees the International Student Program.
  8. Assists with the onboarding and mentoring of new staff.
  9. Promotes positive student life and energized student climate.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform any and all other duties prescribed by the principal.

 

Teacher (25%)

Primary Purpose:

The teacher shall help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women consistent with the philosophy and goals of the school.  The teacher shall serve as a spiritual leader for integration of Biblical truth, teaching, modeling and discipline.

Reports To:  Director of Academics and Instruction

Professional Knowledge

The teacher demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and diverse needs of students by providing meaningful learning experiences.

Instructional Planning

The teacher effectively plans using the approved curriculum, instructional strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students. 

Instructional Delivery

The teacher effectively engages students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies in order to meet individual learning needs. 

Assessment For and Of Learning

The teacher systematically gathers, analyzes, and uses relevant data to measure student progress, guide instructional content and delivery methods, and provides timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders.

Learning Environment

The teacher uses resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that is conducive to student engagement and learning.

Professionalism

The teacher demonstrates behavior consistent with legal, ethical, and professional standards, contributes to the profession, and engages in professional growth that results in improved student learning.
