Reports to:                              Provost/Chief Academic Officer

Department:                           Academics

Status:                                     Full time, Exempt

Salary:                                     Commensurate with degree and experience

 

Summary

The candidate hired for this position will teach Business courses and provide leadership for the School of Business.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Providing visionary leadership for the School of Business;
  • Teaching load of eight classes per year (or equivalent per Faculty Handbook)
  • Supervising, hiring, observing and evaluating Business faculty and staffing courses in the School of Business;
  • Overseeing development, maintenance and ongoing evaluation of curriculum and degree programs;
  • Maintaining and establishing partnerships (dual-degrees with other institutions and local business partnerships);
  • Maintaining and editing the Business content for the Academic Catalog and the Grace website;
  • Investigating and addressing faculty and student concerns and conflicts in collaboration with appropriate staff to ensure integrity of academic policies;
  • Leading divisional meetings, attending faculty meetings, and engaging in committee meetings;
  • Providing regular updates to the Provost;
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Provost.

  • Education – Doctoral degree in Business, Management, Organizational Leadership or related field required
  • Experience – minimum of two years of college teaching experience in both face-to-face and online modalities and course writing experience for accelerated courses. Applicant must have two or more years of higher education leadership and administration experience including development of academic programs and oversight of personnel issues, policies, and strategic partnerships.
  • Qualities – Applicant must be collaborative, compassionate, positive, approachable, and culturally intelligent. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Computer Skills – Possess a working knowledge of computer applications. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Google Drive is preferred. Must have the ability to accurately and efficiently perform required computerized tasks, with the ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Customer Service Skills – Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Frequent interaction with students, parents, and agencies requires positive customer relations and ability to work with diverse populations. A pleasant and helpful demeanor will assist in the favorable development and maintaining of relationships.  
  • Decisiveness/Reasoning - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Sound decision making, problem solving, prioritization skills, and prompt follow up are key elements. Proven organizational, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.  
  • Self-Starting Team Player – Must display the ability to be a team player, yet have the self-drive to work independently, take initiative, and perform with minimal supervision.
  • Physical Demands – A minimal amount of travel is required as needed for updates and professional development and various recruiting events.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and use hands to type. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
