The Worship Leader is a servant leader to the church. This position is part-time, year-round position based on approximately 10 hours per week. The primary duty will be to provide leadership to a praise team which leads congregational singing for our regular services and special events.
Core Responsibility: Leading congregational singing for our regular services and special events. This will include planning with the Senior Pastor, preparing selections that match the church demographics, practicing regularly with a praise team, working with the AV team to ensure the multimedia is a compliment to the services, and assist in preparing the annual music budget.
A godly man who clearly profess Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, be in agreement with the church constitution, and embrace the Transformational Church ministry mindset. If married, his wife must be in full support of his ministry.
A heart to worship God and engage others in worship. He should be natural, comfortable, and confident speaking, singing, praying, reading scripture, and generally engaging in a large group of people.
While a candidate need not be a professional musician, he should possess enough musical skill and discernment that he could, if necessary, lead a worship set by himself, both vocally and accompanying instrumentally in a manner that does not distract from the substance either negatively or positively.
He should have a diverse repertoire and knowledge of worship material from hymns to contemporary choruses and be adept at planning worship with intentional flow and dynamics. He should be able to balance purposeful planning with flexibility and creativity, and work with the Senior Pastor toward creating cohesive themes, readings, messages, and other service elements.
The ideal candidate should be quick to identify gifts and skills within the body and be proactive and persuasive in encouraging their use. He should also be kind and nurturing yet confident and timely in redirecting people whose interest in serving musically is beyond their gifting or skill set.
He and his wife (if married) will be members of Grace Bible Church.
He will be directly responsible to the Senior Pastor, and ultimately responsible to the Official Board.
He will be present for at least 48 Sunday Services in a calendar year. Special services (eg. Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Praise Nights) will be worked out on a case by case basis.
His position will be reviewed quarterly in the initial year of employment, with semi-annual reviews the second year, and annual reviews commencing the third year and each year thereafter.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess training and experience in developing and leading a praise band in a variety of music styles.
