The Pastor of Mission Advancement will be a position primarily responsible for leading the staff well in many administrative and detailed areas, supporting the lead pastor in his leadership of the church, strategically planning to carry out the identity and core mission of LaGrange First Church of God, and implementing that vision in practical ways, through leadership, ministry oversight, and administration. They will be a right hand to the Lead Pastor and a key person in the leadership of the church.
While a minimal college education would not disqualify a candidate, a Bachelor's degree or seminary education is preferred. Exceptional ministry experience could compensate for lack of formal education.

A true leader: Understanding that equipping, encouraging, and empowering key ministry leaders is biblical, effective, and key for the health and growth of the church.
Budgeting skills and understanding.

Someone with an active personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Someone who can function in a culture with many Type-A personalities and is willing to try first, and ask for forgiveness later.
While spouse is not employed, they should be bought in to the culture, mission, and vision of LaGrange First Church of God.
About the Church and Location:
LaGrange First Church of God is part of the Church of God, Anderson, IN movement. We are a 97-year-old church located in small-town northern Indiana. Over the last three years, we have experienced significant growth numerically, financially, but most importantly, spiritually. We have seen over 100 baptisms and child dedications. Our growth has been due to reaching lost people, or people who have left the church and since re-engaged.
While we live in a small-town, we in no way act like a small-town church. This is where it will take a unique candidate to fit the position. We are very "come as you are," which has created an atmosphere for the unchurched to fit in, and thrive. We have many life-changing stories that impact our congregation, community, and beyond. We have a strong and effective social media presence, and are about to enter a million-dollar capital campaign to accomodate growth. All these things have made LaGrange First Church of God unique to LaGrange County.
Therefore, the candidate must understand best practices in ministry while being able to embrace small-town culture.
In the fall of 2017, we retained the services of an outside consultant service (Church Growth Services). In that time, we were identified as a "bar-bell congregation." This is their definition of a truly healthy church for all generations, from children to seniors. We have a strong children and youth ministry, a thriving men's ministry, and a solid seniors ministry, as well as a strong ministry to people with developmental disabilities, and a young but thriving Celebrate Recovery.
Current pastor in this role is leaving well, and has been key in turning around the culture, as well as numerical and spiritual growth of the church. Her shoes will be hard to fill. She is staying on staff until a replacement is found, and is willing to help make a smooth transition. She and her family are also staying in the congregation as active disciples.
The current pastor is leaving to focus more on her musical and administrative gifts outside the church in a non-profit sector. Therefore, the candidate would stand out if he or she could replace her leadership role within the worship ministry, in addition to the previously stated description.
