About The Oaks:
The Oaks Christian Church is located in San Marcos, California, and we are seeking a new Lead Pastor to shepherd our flock. Our property was acquired 30 years ago and holds a 200-seat sanctuary, church office, kitchen, classrooms, prayer rooms and adjacent buildings, which can also be used for children and youth ministries. The Oaks Christian Church is affiliated with the Missionary Church (http://www.mcwrinc.org), and we host and share the facilities with the Hispanic congregation of Iglesia Maranatha Chapel. We currently have 25-30 regular attenders on Sunday mornings and our worship style is simple, contemporary and occasionally mixed with traditional hymns. Our service time is every Sunday at 10:00AM followed by the Hispanic congregation service at noon.
The City of San Marcos is a beautiful North County community, just 12 miles from the beach and 35 miles from downtown San Diego. The Oaks is located in a residential and agricultural area amidst family-oriented, culturally diverse, and active lifestyle surroundings. With a population of roughly 95,000, San Marcos offers a wide range of shopping, recreational, educational, and health care opportunities and resources. San Marcos is recognized as a safe community and is home to top-rated K-12 schools and colleges, including California State University San Marcos and Palomar College. It is also close to San Diego beaches, mountains, desert, and major Southern California attractions.
We are seeking an experienced full time Lead pastor who strives to model Christlikeness through his ministry. This person believes in The Oaks’ core values, beliefs, and mission, (see separate attachment) while also bringing visionary leadership given the tremendous potential in our San Marcos location. The new Lead Pastor should therefore have church planting skills and gift mix with a vision for growth and outreach. We are looking for a pastor with a long-term commitment to nurture and grow The Oaks, with a focus on shepherding our flock and making disciples. This person will constantly seek to grow professionally and spiritually as a humble and prayerful servant, and is excited to take on the dynamic challenges of growing a small church.
We highly value a powerful and engaging sermon style that teaches Biblically based messages and inspires people to grow in their faith. Sermons can be topical in nature or focused on a specific book of the Bible. Our congregation spans a wide range of ages, and we are looking to grow in all areas. We need a senior pastor that is friendly and encouraging, and can connect to both new and mature Christians of any age, whether it is from the pulpit on Sundays, a church BBQ, and one-on-one counseling. Our pastor will have a warm and open demeanor, and an obvious love for people, prayer, and teaching.
We need a leader who lives by Christ’s example through obedience, grace, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Our senior pastor will have the experience and desire to lead our small church to her next chapter. We need a leader who can identify, recruit and develop leaders and staff while simultaneously implementing a vision for growth. Our pastor should also have a balanced home life with a high regard for family, be in good financial standing, and have a mature relationship with Christ rooted in prayer.
