We run petroleum tank trucks (single axle and tandem axle) around the Columbus metro area, so Class B CDL with tanker / hazmat endorsements are required. We are also subject to DOT rules and regulations including all the screening requirements. Since we haul diesel/gasoline/fuel oils we are a non-smoking operation both at the office and in the trucks. Pumps load and unload the trucks. The trucks have compartments and can haul multiple products on the same load. When not driving between delivery sites, you are pulling the hose off a reel, pumping fuel being careful that the correct fuel is being dispensed and no spills occur. And, finally completing the customer's delivery ticket. We have a thorough training process to get new drivers comfortable. It is outdoor work, rain or shine, warm or cold but you have time between stops to be back in the cab out of the elements. Drivers can typically run a morning route and an afternoon route. Depending on the gallons per delivery, a day could have 3 stops, 9 stops, or 15 stops in a 7-9 hour day. This varies by truck, daily and seasonally. We operate M-F. Occasionally we might have some special work on a weekend. Delivery sites include commercial facilities, commercial construction sites and residential home heating. We pay overtime for >8 hrs in a day. Benefits include health and dental for employee and family plus employee long-term disability. Paid vacation is earned after the first year. Profit sharing, eligible in year 3, is accomplished thru a SEP-IRA, similar to a 401k only better.
