Part Time Youth Worker and Coordinator of Family Ministries

Job Description

 

Job Summary:

 

The successful applicant will work with children, young people, and families that are affiliated with the church.  This will be achieved by participating in current ministry opportunities and developing new programs and activities as the congregation grows and changes.

 

Hours:20 to 25 per week

 

Salary: based on experience

Applicant will be an employee of Prairie Baptist Church and subject to all state and federal withholdings.

-must attend relevant planning meetings

-must be an active participant in church services

-must be willing to participate in visitation programs

-must be willing to lead/teach 1 time per month in both children’s clubs (AWANAS) and teen youth groups

-must be available to assist in planning and working in Vacation Bible School (VBS)

-must be involved in planning and implementing weekly junior (Jr.) church and Sunday school programs

-will be expected to act as the supervisor of all ministries related to youth, children, and families including but not limited to: VBS, Jr. Church, Sunday school, AWANAS, and Teen Activities

 

Qualifications of Applicant:

 

-must love the Lord God with all your heart, soul and mind and have a passion for young people coming to know Christ as their Savior

-must have thorough Bible knowledge and experience in leading others to Christ

-must be committed to the growth and discipleship of new believers

-must be devoted to praying for the church family both individually and corporately and be a student of the scriptures

-the applicant should have some documented experience in working with children, youth, and/or families

-must pass a Indiana State Police limited criminal history search

-must be in good standing with the church sending the applicant and must be willing to become a member of Prairie Baptist Church

-the applicant’s personal beliefs and testimony must align with the doctrinal statement of Prairie Baptist Church

-must have a pastoral love for the congregation and community

-seminary/bible training is preferred

 

Ministry Goals:

 

-recruit, train, and oversee volunteers in Youth and Teen ministries

-revitalize Sunday school programs through collaboration with the pastor, Sunday School Superintendent, teachers, parents, and visitors with the goal of spiritual and numerical growth within existing programs

-collaborate and support Jr. Church programs and teachers

-consult and advise AWANA clubs and teens with programs, policies, curriculums, and visitations

-create relationships with families and students to provide pastoral care, guidance, and training

-develop community ties to create positive relationships with schools and organizations with the goal of reaching and encouraging families

-provide opportunities for youth to be involved in camps, youth rallies, and other appropriate social outings that can foster spiritual growth and positive relationships with other Christian youth

 

Church Duties:

 

-coordinate with the pastor and church secretary all mailings and promotional materials relating to events and programs concerning youth and family ministries

-create, monitor, and submit budget recommendations to the finance committee for programs or materials that exceed or do not exist in the current budget

-assist with the transportation of students needing rides to and from church events (CDL required within 3 months of hire)

-develop and implement policies and procedures for health concerns, permission slips, background checks etc.

-examine and purchase new materials and curriculum as needed

-secure supervision for activities involving the youth (playground, restroom, bus, etc.)

 

The approved applicant will be expected to work under the direction of the Pastor, and will be accountable to the Pastor, deacons, and church congregation of Prairie Baptist Church.
