POSITION: KIDS MINISTRY LEAD
TERMS: 10-Month Maternity Leave Contract; ¾ time
August 2013 to June 2014
Celebration Lutheran Church (CLC) is an independent congregation that is a member of the Alliance of Renewal Churches (ARC). We are a community of faith with a desire to seek God, expect His power and presence, and celebrate His work. Our people have enjoyed a rich history of contemporary worship, active volunteer ministry and local and global outreach. We are seeking an individual to oversee and lead the Kids Ministries at CLC. This position will report to the Pastoral Team Leader.
· Kids Ministry Oversight and Management
o Plan and communicate the future direction, vision and values of Kids Ministry, ensuring that it is consistent with the strategic goals of CLC
o Develop, implement and oversee large and small group worship/growth experiences during our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening worship services, special and outreach events for kids, creating an environment that is relevant, glorifying to God, exciting, fun and conducive to learning and growth
o Research, purchase and/or write curriculum for small group and large group gatherings
o Implement systems and processes to track attendees and workers and communicate effectively with kids, families and team members
o Implement policies to ensure safety for all children
· Volunteer Development
o Recruit, train, support and evaluate a multi-generational team of volunteers
o Ensure all Kids ministry volunteers complete the necessary application and police checks
o Provide a position description to each Ministry Lead and volunteer that outlines and clarifies what is expected of them (role and responsibilities)
· Team Leadership
o Act as Team Lead for the Kids Ministry Leads, meet with them on a monthly basis, provide support and create accountability to ensure fulfillment of their individual roles and responsibilities
o Identify leadership development needs within your team of Ministry Leads, link individuals to development opportunities and provide support as required
o Create annual ministry plans and budgets, engage Ministry Leads in this process and ensure that plans and activities align with the mission, values and strategic goals of CLC
o Assess the effectiveness of your Ministry areas and programs to ensure they are having the desired impact (outcomes)
o Seek the direction of the Holy Spirit for the Kids Ministry
o Identify personal development goals, seek out and participate in opportunities to achieve your goals and further enhance your learning, gifts and skill sets.
o Fulfill other responsibilities required from time to time that are identified and mutually negotiated with the Pastoral Team Leader
o As a team member of CLC you will annually review the CLC Operations and Policy Manual and actively be aware of it boundaries and empowerment language.
We are looking for an individual who meets the following requirements, or who has an equivalent combination of education, experience and competencies:
· Post Secondary degree or diploma in Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Education
· Minimum of 5 years experience (paid or volunteer) working directly with children in a supervisory and/or programming role. Management experience is beneficial but not required.
· Knowledge of child education and personal learning and growth/development principles; design and deliver learning curriculum and special events;
· Proven ability to lead a team of volunteers and effectively oversee, facilitate and deliver the events and programs of the Kids Ministry
· Proven ability to work in a team-oriented culture and alongside others in a collaborative, respectful and empowering manner
