The Associate Pastor of Discipleship is a full-time position with the following responsibilities:
Oversee all discipling ministries (other than youth ministry), including small group, adult Sunday school, men’s and women’s ministries, young adult, and children’s ministries.
Participate in pastoral duties, including preaching, teaching, visitations, counseling, officiating weddings, funerals, and other duties as directed.
Report directly and be primarily accountable to the Senior Pastor and be secondarily accountable to the Elder Board and ultimately to the congregation of MEFC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Demonstrates a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced in daily life and meets the requirements of elder outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
Demonstrates a Christ-like concern for the spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional well-being of others.
Gifted in leadership, administration, implementing vision and mobilizing the church, and is able to manage multiple ministries, events, and issues concurrently from start to finish.
Is able to interpret and apply Scripture practically and pastorally to all areas of life.
Has training and experience in preaching
Is highly relational in working with church leaders and members/attenders. Communicates effectively with all ages inside and outside the church
Is in agreement with MEFC’s mission, vision and purpose.
Is in agreement with the Evangelical Free Church of America’s Statement of Faith and is willing to consider credentialing with the EFCA.
A minimum of five years of disciplining ministry experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in a ministry-related major and/or Masters of Divinity is preferred.
Specific Job Requirments
Develop and maintain the MEFC small group ministry, including recruiting, training and supporting small group leaders, developing a strategy for incorporating parishioners into small groups, and creating sustainable structures for small group multiplication.

Oversee the Children’s Ministry Director and their ministry
Lead the First Impressions Team to ensure a welcoming environment in which the visitors are effectively plugged-in to our church.
Develop a process whereby each member/attender can find his/her area of ministry by helping them identify their own gifts, abilities, passions, experiences, and personality.
Create and employ a plan for further integrating young singles and young families into our church family.
Participate in pastoral duties including preaching, teaching, visitations, counseling, officiating weddings, funerals, and other duties as directed.
