First Rowlett United Methodist Church seeks a Family Life Director to lead outreach to families, including children and student ministries and promote intergenerational programming. The person in this position is expected to provide strategic direction for children and youth ministries, and develop, supervise and train the leaders of these ministries. The person in this position will work closely with the Associate Pastor who is responsible for building community and leading discipleship within the church, with specific coordination for discipling families and building community among families.
The Family Life Director will:
(1) Work under the Senior and Associate Pastor and closely with church leadership to develop and execute a strategic plan for effectively reaching and transforming families for Jesus Christ,
(2) Provide pastoral leadership and supervision to the children and youth ministry leaders, developing and training them,
(3) Collaborate with the Associate Pastor, other staff and lay leaders to build community and make disciples within the context of families,
(4) Perform other pastoral duties as requested.
Leadership/Strategic Planning - provide pastoral leadership and strategic planning for all ministry, outreach and programs for families, children and youth.
Supervise and develop leaders of children and youth ministries;
Conduct regular, face to face meetings with each leader of children and youth ministries to discuss ministry performance and strategy implementation;
Train staff of children and youth ministries in accordance with the strategic plan for intergenerational programs;
Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place for children and youth ministries; and exemplify servant leadership;
Collaborate to Achieve Vision/Mission, working with Associate Pastor and other staff and lay leaders to design and implement community-building and disciple-making with respect to families, children and youth;
Equip parents to be the primary discipleship leaders to their families;
Demonstrate the importance of unity of the body by building and promoting healthy, loving, Christ-like relationships with other staff and laypeople;
Develop and manage a budget for the areas of responsibility;
Preach and carry out pastoral duties as requested (in support of Senior Pastor);
Fulfill other pastoral or administrative duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
