Per-diem Clinic RN

Location: Orange

This a per-diem position with a minimum requirement of 2 shifts per month and reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Staff Nurse will assist the Clinic Manger in overseeing the medical day-to-day operations of the medical clinic. The job includes maintaining effective patient flow and assuring all medical services are consistent with Obria Medical Clinics’ mission and philosophy, as well as the implementation and maintenance of Obria’s policies and procedures. The successful candidate will fully supports the mission, vision, and goals of Obria, be highly organized, willing to work at the Orange, Mission Viejo and Long Beach locations and is a Registered Nurse in good standing with the California Board of Registered Nursing.


  • Provide optimal care and assessment of Obria’s patients prior, during and after being seen in the clinic
  • Handles, obtains, and processes hazardous materials, including but not limited to, urine, and blood samples
  • Implements and maintains effective patient flow utilizing paid and volunteer staff
  • Implements best practices in clinic services and patient care
  • Collaborates with non-medical staff to ensure clinic procedures follow community clinic and AAAHC regulations
  • Reviews Obria’s patient EHR for accuracy, including scrutiny for errors
  • Mentors and oversees new and/or existing medical staff / volunteers
  • Precepts RN to BSN or pre-licensure nursing students
  • Mentors medical volunteers toward best practice outcomes
  • Participates in the Abortion Pill Reversal Program and is on-call as needed for calls from the APR Hotline.
  • Ensures daily cleaning is completed per Obria’s Exposure Control Plan
  • Follows-up with pregnant and STD patient’s regarding care and lab test results according to Obria’s guidelines
  • Ensures that the Presumptive Eligibility (PE) weekly summary, PE and Medi-Cal enrollment, and PE / Medi-Cal billing are submitted


  • Meets all responsibilities and ensures strict confidentiality, management of corporate, finance, personnel, and patient information, this includes distribution control, secure filing, disposal of, records retention, and storage of patient information according to HIPAA Guidelines
  • Communicates effectively, respectfully, and courteously with all contacts -- internal and external
  • Works productively, effectively, and respectfully with diverse people
  • Maintains current knowledge of, and complies with organizational and departmental policies and procedures
  • Meets all applicable safety requirements for the position and work environment, including prompt incident reporting, according to Obria’s policy
  • Uses skill and best judgment to ensure written or verbal outputs are clear, accurate, grammatical, and of appropriate tone
  • Participates in volunteer trainings as needed; which may include giving presentations to large volunteer groups as well as in-clinic shadowing
  • Meets personal attendance and punctuality requirements, including but not limited to, organizing workload throughout the day to meet schedules and deadlines, meets time use policies, minimizes time spent on personal calls, personal email, and personal matters, accurately reports time and attendance


  • Provide optimal care, assessment, and comprehensive education of Obria’s patients prior, during, and after being seen in the clinic
  • Participates in the care, coordination and support of Abortion Pill Reversal patients. Occasionally takes call on nights and weekends as needed by the organization.
  • Reviews and maintains the electronic patient files to ensure compliance with Obria’s policies and procedures
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality under the guidelines of HIPAA
  • Ensures understanding and compliance of Obria’s policies and procedures by all students, staff, and volunteers, medical, and non-medical
  • Works with the Clinic Manager to maintain adequate medical supplies in the clinic
  • Assists with medical staff / volunteer training as needed
  • May be required to work/cover at other Obria clinic locations


  • Current RN License in the State of California
  • Good standing with the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Current CPR certification
  • Limited Ultrasound Training Preferred - and may be completed after hire
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience in a clinical environment
  • Basic knowledge of medical insurance, exposure control, and HIPAA compliance
