Learning Center Coordinator of Curriculum & Assessment

Function as 21st Century Community Learning Center Coordinator of Curriculum & Assessment for the year round on-site program.  Oversee all aspects of the Academic School Year and Summer Day Camp programs relative to the development and implementation of curriculum, teaching, tutorial and assessment services as well as coordinate a computerized academic tracking system. Administer ongoing academic year curriculum for the Learning Center. 


  • Represent The Salvation Army in a manner that brings glory to God.
  • Assist in every way requested to carry out the spiritual and total mission of The Cleveland Temple Corps of The Salvation Army in terms of community needs and our ministry to the people of our community.
  • Oversees the Learning Center staff in the absence of the Director.
  • Assist the Learning Zone Director in training for Learning Center staff in tutor-student generated tutorial sessions and activities.
  • Supervise program components of the 21st Century CCLC and provide daily supervision of 21st CCLC participants. This includes but is not limited to: Individual Reading (Scholastic Reading Inventory) and Math (IXL.com) assessments, creating individual, Ohio, content standard based, lessons and enrichment plans, in all subject areas, for grades K-6. Monitor and keep records of the progress of each student through the reporting process of each assessment program.
  • Maintain a relationship with each student's teacher & Principal.
  • Assist with Learning Center recruitment.
  • Assist with meal/snack time preparation & clean-up.
  • Provide transportation, in authorized Salvation Army vehicles, for program participants from the various schools served by our program
  • Assist the Director in the development and implementation of overall parent workshops and parental involvement with the 21st CCLC.  Distribute, as appropriate, all 21st CCLC information, records and correspondence related to the academic component.
  • Offer input as it relates to meeting the needs of the community and schools in the area.
  • Build relationships within the learning center to encourage children to participate in corps/church programs/services.
  • Work with the Director to ensure that all requirements pertaining to the 21st CCLC grant are adhered to.
  • Assist with any other projects as assigned by the Corps Officers or Operations Director.
  • Assist with the overall Christmas effort including driving for kettles as requested and necessary.


  • B.A in Education.
  • State of Ohio Teaching License/Certification


  • Must have a valid Ohio Drivers License and be able to drive for The Salvation Army.
  • Relative experience in a classroom setting.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and appropriate intervention skills required. 
  • Strong knowledge of available educational resources required.
  • Must be passionate about the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the Cleveland Temple Corps.
