Calvary Christian School, Inc., exists to provide a quality education from a Christian perspective. CCS was founded in 1965 as a preschool ministry, and subsequent grades were added each year. In 1974, portable buildings were set up on forty-five acres of property to establish a junior/senior high school campus. Since then a gymnasium, office building, and classrooms have been built, classroom portables have been removed, and recent building projects have provided two permanent campuses.
Calvary Christian School, Inc., is located in Forrest City, Arkansas, about 45 miles from Memphis, Tennessee, and 80 miles from Little Rock, Arkansas. The daycare and elementary programs are located in the heart of the city of approximately 10,000 people. The secondary campus is located about one and one-half miles from the central office. Calvary Christian School is both a challenging and rewarding ministry whose daycare program has approximately 125 enrolled and K4-12th grade has approximately 125 enrolled. Dr. Hubert Hartzler, former CCS administrator when I attended and former graduate dean of Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania, has served as one of the school's consultants to aid in recruiting. Teacher recruitment made a difference in the lives of its students then, and many teachers perceived this to be a boot camp for missionary work in other parts of the world. I, too, attempt to recruit quality teachers to ensure a Christian philosophy of education in a traditional classroom setting for the students we serve.
Currently, CCS needs a first and second instructor, fourth grade instructor, and history instructor to be recruited. Because of the size of the school, more individualized job descriptions can be created as personal strengths are aligned with the school's needs including coaching, and yearbook. Many of our teachers are from other states, and most find it enlightening to be working with students in this delta area of the country.
The school assists in finding accommodations for those who feel God calling them to serve at CCS. Many of our single teachers share houses and apartments nearby and enjoy the arrangements and relationships they build. CCS is popular with PCC graduates, hiring one or two each year from the recruitment opportunities available. If you would consider applying for any position, I would like to encourage you to do so and would like to interview with you as well.
