Cabin Leaders (AKA Camp Counselors) must enjoy being a mentor to young students. They should be able to show care and consideration especially when dealing with frequent student issues, such as bullying, homesickness, defiance, special learning needs, and illness / injury.
Cabin leaders will sleep in the cabins with students 3 nights a week (on a typical week).
Housing, utilities, and meals will be provided during your employment.
Cabin Leaders are responsible for the overall well-being, safety, and care of students,
Cabin Leaders are also responsible for running evening snack time, facilitating bedtime, facilitating meals, enforcing rules, ensuring medications are administered by medical staff, and taking disciplinary action with campers as necessary and appropriate.
Some basic knowledge of housekeeping procedures is necessary. Duties include stripping and making beds, cleaning restrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, and window washing.
Ability to teach experiential character-building lessons to positively instruct and encourage 5th-6th grade students.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and at least 17 years of age by the start date.
To be a Cabin Leader you must be 21 years of age, to be a Cabin Leader Aid ages 17-21 are considered.
Must have good moral character, strong leadership skills and a high level of maturity and references that indicate this.
Because this position transfers into our summer program it is valuable for candidates who wish to stay on to have a desire to learn and grow in a Christian community of believers for the "Summer of Service" program.
Needs to be able to walk between 2-3 miles a day on hikes with students, participating in rec. time activities, and other games.
Needs to be able to pass background checks, and live in a highly accountable community that prevents and protects children against abuse and abides by Camper Protect policies.
