Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Vice President of Ministry Integration and Innovation (MI2)
Job Summary
Provides enterprise wide leadership and coordination for the long-term success of the Child Survival Program (CSP) Ministry. Serves as the chief spokesperson and champion for the Ministry. Provides visionary leadership, passion and coordination to the cross-functional Ministry Cabinet. Leads the introduction of innovative ideas for the continuous improvement of the Ministry. Works in collaboration with MI2 leadership to influence others to work enthusiastically toward the goals identified to reach Compassion’s Outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
2. Acts as an advocate for children - raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one's influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
3. Champions the CSP Ministry and serves as the chief spokesperson for the Ministry to internal and external audiences.
4. Leads and develops the CSP Ministry Cabinet in the fulfillment of its responsibilities.
5. Leads the introduction of innovative ideas for the continous improvement of the Ministry.
6. Leads the Ministry Advisory Council in casting vision, sharing information, discussing Ministry-related issues, gathering functional perspectives and expertise, brainstorming, and influencing the direction of the Ministry.
7. Ensures that the Ministry Blueprint and individual CSP Blueprints are current, comprehensive, and complete.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
1. Wise and consistent behavior and stewardship based on evangelical Christian values.
2. Vision and passion for the Child Survival Program and an ability to communicate that vision in a manner that inspires and motivates others.
3. Expertise and experience relevant to child survival such as maternal and newborn health or early child development. Experience in the developing world preferred.
4. Leadership and management skills sufficient to lead a multi-million dollar program as demonstrated by experience managing people and programs.
5. Ability to coach others through influence rather than direct control resulting in ownership and action.
6. Successful experience in matrix management environment in Compassion or similar organization. Ability to form positive productive cross-functional relationships quickly.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
8. Ability to relate to staff in multi-cultural settings in a proactive and contextual manner resulting in positive and trusting cross-cultural relationships.
9. Strong management thinking with the ability to track, manage and analyze data.
10. Ability to manage well with frequent travel (up to 20%) outside of home residence.
