Leads in the design, development, review, analysis, and evaluation of all computer-based training (CBT) courses. This includes course instruction, course materials, developmental tools and testing for a variety of learning and developmental opportunities on a national, regional, and local basis. Supervises all Instructional Design Specialists and Media Specialists and oversees development of all on-line courses and training. Ensures that all projects align with established competencies, job performance and Compassion International priorities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Supervises and provides leadership for all aspects of curriculum development including leading a team of instructional designers and media developers through all phases of development to deliver quality e-learning on time and on budget.
Performs and advises team on the following: analyze, design, and develop ministry focused e-learning, blended learning and/or instructor-led content as appropriate using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) or ISD (Instructional System Design) models. This includes needs/performance analysis, content design and development, implementation and evaluation for global and/or the USA audience. This position oversees the Learning Management System (LMS) for Compassion.
Partners with subject-matter experts (SME) to guide and direct support in the development of training plans and identify learning objectives for courses, and to identify and/or obtain sources of information for development of course material.
Advises in storyboard development, conversion of scripts to program logic, testing of modules, and entire courses to identify inconsistencies in flow or programming problems in preparation for distribution.
Oversees implementation of effective development work processes that result in modularity of objects, retrieval of source files and reflects best practices for development teams. Design graphics for use in a web-based environment.
Leads all phases of development in a multi-person project effort as required. Maintains all project plans for CBT project initiatives and ensure effective implementation and delivery of courses with follow-up evaluation as needed.
Performs evaluation of project deliverables at key milestones and provides feedback (advising team members) to ensure the best quality possible within scope of project. Conducts project and content analysis in order to deliver qualified cost estimate, scope of work and comprehensive project plans for CBT development efforts.
May liaise with vendor(s) throughout project as Compassion ID representative for CBT project to ensure quality and standards.
Demonstrates advanced communication skills (written and oral) with all levels of the organization, team members and customers. Supports and promotes team's ideas that contribute to success to the team's deliverables such as process and workflow enhancements, platform and/or software changes.
FUNCTIONAL JOB COMPETENCIES
1+ years experience preferred with CBT development technology (Captivate, Articulate, Raptivity, Flash, Photoshop, audio and video editing and recording software and hardware)
2+ years experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), SumTotal Systems (or like systems)
3+ years of applied Project Management experience
5+ years demonstrated experience and success in e-learning development and implementation
7+ years of experience in Instructional Design researching, writing and evaluating curriculum
Demonstrated ability for advanced reading comprehension and writing proficiency in completed Instructional Design project. Ability to write non-existing content for curriculum project, to identify and write terminal objectives, assessments and instructional design document.
Demonstrated ability to apply industry-standard ID methodology and approaches to content
Demonstrated ability to analyze content to deliver qualified cost analysis and project plan for curriculum development project
Demonstrated ability to be an individual contributor to team successes
