Zondervan is looking for a Vice President of Marketing for our Church, Academic, Reference Resource (CARR) Department.
Responsibilities • Provide leadership working with staff to develop innovative marketing strategies and plans for CARR’s key partners and authors.
• Serve as mentor to marketing and publicity staff to motivate them for innovative and creative marketing that breaks new ground with fresh approaches, reaching budget and sales goals for books, ebooks, audio books, software, video, and mobile products.
• Participate in weekly CARR update meetings and CARR publication board meetings.
• Work with the CARR publications board to evaluate proposals and help establish sales unit goals.
• Take leadership in preparing and presenting CARR products at sales conferences by working closely with staff and the SVP Publisher.
• Work with the SVP Publisher to develop the CARR marketing budget and then manage and monitor marketing expenditures to stay on budget and reach revenue goals for the three major categories of CARR products.
• Oversee CARR effective participation in multiple academic and church conventions/conferences• Serve as a liaison and advocate for CARR products with sales staff and key outside accounts.
• Serve as key contact with CARR publishing partners, agents, and key authors in terms of accountability for CARR’s marketing plans.
• Work with the SVP Publisher to set goals and help the CARR team continue to grow by adding to its front-list of products and drawing on its backlist resources in ways that support the Zondervan mission and contribute to meeting the ongoing needs of the church and academy.
Knowledge/Experience • Bachelor’s Degree required and marketing training
• Seminary education in biblical/theological studies
• Industry knowledge: association with the evangelical church and the world of seminary education. The industry knowledge should provide the capability to understand and communicate with church staff members, faculty, and students.
• Experience working with evangelical biblical/theological resources in print and electronic formats used by church leaders, academics, and informed laypersons.
Skills • Aptitude to understand and work with cutting-edge technology, tools, and social networks for marketing and promoting in innovative ways.
• Ability to establish, cultivate, and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to communicate articulately and compellingly in public speaking and writing
• Ability to mentor employees and lead effective and organized meetings
• Ability to motivate and build consensus within a team
• Able to prioritize, manage projects, and meet deadlines
• Able to work in a stimulating environment that includes: team-work and interaction with Zondervan employees in various departments, authors, agents, publishing partners, and sales accounts.
