Principal Function: The Music Leader is responsible to the Shady Brook Baptist Church body and the Pastor for leading the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive music ministry. For employment requirements and responsibilities, the Music Leader shall report to the local church body through the Pastor and the Church Council.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with the Pastor and the Worship Committee in planning church worship services
Provide a weekly order of worship with congregational music, special music, time slot for preaching, offertory music, and invitational music. The order of worship must be provided no later than the preceding Wednesday night service to ensure all considerations have been included.
Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive Music Ministry.
Direct music groups and congregational singing.
Work with the Music Coordinator in determining music ministry goals, organization, leadership, facilities, finances and administrative process.
Work in cooperation with the Church Council & Worship Committee, in selecting, enlisting, training, and advising song leaders, accompanists, and other musicians who serve in church program organizations.

The position of Music Leader requires the following qualifications:
·Ability to document and provide a weekly order of worship to Church staff and Worship committee members.
·Ability to listen effectively and to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form.
·Exceptional speaking skills and the ability to speak confidently before groups.
·Quality leadership skills. Experience in leading a worship service.
·Organizational skills in scheduling Sunday services.
·Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
Pass a criminal background check.
Ability to read music.
The position of Music Leader will consider the following skills a bonus for consideration:
·3 to 5 years experience in a music church staff or other music-related position.
·Formal music classes
·Able to play a musical instrument.
·Basic ability to use computer software (such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and ability to communicate via e-mail.
